Red winces are vinted from grape varietals that have red color in their skins. The color gets extracted into the juice, which gives it the color.

Conversely, white wines come from other grape varietals that have pale yellow or pale green skins.

Red wine in moderation has been shown to be healthy for two reasons:

1. The antioxidants in the wine tannins help prevent cancer.

2. The wine has been shown to be associated with a lower incident rate of heart attack.

I would add that a glass of red wine a day helps relieve the stresses of the day.

Healthier? In 'moderation' red wine is better for you. Reds from Chile are the healthiest due to their chemical nature but not more than a standard glass a day! White wine is actually made with red grapes most of the time but the removal of the skins stops the healthier ingredients and colour from being present.

Wine is made from grapes.

If the skin on the grapes is not removed, it acquires red tint and it then is know as red wine.

It was believed that red wine will be loaded with anti oxidant; recent study has proved the difference if any is insignificant.

In case of white wine, skin is taken out. It has no colour or at least it is light yellow, this depends on the grapes.

Again I am not sure about the sponsor of the study.

General information on wine:

Most wine age well and get batter with the age, but needs care. In the absence of care and technique, it turns to vinegar (red or white).

If the study is correct, in small quantities both have some benefits as far as health goes. At one time red was considered more beneficial in small quantities.

People do drink wine for its other characteristics such as, taste, eye appeal, toxicity.........

Red wine Is made from predominately red grapes, although many blends including the renowned Chateaneuf-de-pape
include white grape varietals in their profile, exposure to the skin is what colours the wine.
White wine is made from either red or white grapes or a blend of both, pinot blanc and pinot grigio are both made from the same grape varietal as pinot noir, limited exposure to the skins after pressing produces the pale coloured wines. All white wines display a hint of tint through a glass. I recently say a pinot gris that was practically a rose (which we won't get into here)
As to health benefits, it entirely depend on the consumer.
If, as many people do, the imbiber has allergies then red wines may induce a allergic reaction as the contain significant levels of histamines. 200% more than white. Sensitivities to sulfites are less of a problem, chose wine that are produced in the old world wine regions France, Italy, Spain. Because of the centuries of cultivation the grapes there are more people friendly. As well few producers there use sulfa based compounds to control fermentation. So much more to add but alas time expires.

Differences between red and white wines include the kinds of grapes used, the fermentation and aging process, and the character and flavor of the finished product.

First, the grapes themselves are noticeably different, with a predominantly red or white color of skin, although the juice of both types is mostly clear.

When fermented, additional pressing of the red grapes releases many tannins and colors into the wine, contributing to the deep, velvety color and flavor of red wines. Following fermentation, the wine may be matured and conditioned in oak barrels for several months. This will add additional wood tannins and flavors. As this could overpower the subtler flavors of white wines, few (such as Chardonnay) are aged in oak. These same tannins, however, help intensify and add richness to a red wine, which is why most reds are aged in oak.

The result is that red wines exhibit a set of rich flavors with spicy, herby and even meaty characteristics. On the other hand, white wines are light in character, with crisp, fruit flavors and aromas.

Red wines are made with grapes and some of the grape skin to give the wine it's red color.
White wine doesn't have the skin of the grape used during the process of making the wine, even though with some wines a red grape is used (but with out the skin again).

Red Wine is also been proved to be antioxidant and is recommended to help with blood cholesterol, if consumed up to two glasses a day.

The obvious difference is the color. The color of wine comes from the skin of the grapes. Red is healthier provided you drink it in moderation. Will thicken the blood.
