I was just asked why I believe in God..ok.
When I was a kid I went to church with neighbors that asked me to go..I did and believed in God. As time went on I gave up the idea that God loved me and that he was real.
I left my home when I was 16, an abusive alcholic father was more than I could take, I lived in the back seat of a 1970 Nova for 2 years. Bt this time I thought if there was a God he didn't like me..that was obvious. I put myself through school and had my own apartment and a friend who was a believer in God but who also smoked pot came into my life. I told him of my hate for God, Jesus & Christians...because of my life. He challenged me to ask God for evidence..ask him to make him known to me. I took the challenge..just to see. I asked God if he was real to show me...I'M OPEN I told him.
That started it all, countless things started to happen, little things at first..for about 2 Month's.
Then one morning he spoke and said "I AM THE LORD GOD" everything that has happened

I'm am 100% sure he is with me. I don't hate anyone that doesn't agree with me..or even calls me a liar...because I know what he did for me...I sold myself that day..and I have never regreted one day. I'm married, 3 kids and a wonderful life...I live in love everyday of my life!

It is so nice to see someone stand up for their beliefs and not back down to the critics. Having a relationship with God is the most amazing thing you can do in your life everything else just comes in a far second. I feel sorry for the people who are so closed minded that they will never experience true joy let alone a wonderful eternity. I pray the God will bless you and your family as you live your lives for him!

OK, so for a start we have three possibilities:

1: You're lying.
2: You're delusional.
3: There really is a whole other realm of existence besides what we can see around us, and an intelligent supernatural entity that created the universe.

Number 1 relies only on things we already know - i.e. that people do indeed tell lies. Number 2 is the same - we know that people can and do suffer from delusions.

For us to believe that number 3 is the actual explanation, we would have to believe something absolutely amazing that is evident in no other way but the fact that you tell us it's true.

I think you would have to agree that number 3 is not something that a rational person could accept on the basis of the evidence presented.

Thanks for the interesting submission though! :-)

Isn't delusion a wonderful thing. You traded a bad reality for a fake reality that just happened to be better than the one you had before. Accepting without proof is called "faith" and faith is the excuse for ignorance. If ignorance is bliss, Christians must be having never-ending explosive orgasms.

Let me get this straight;
You heard, with your own ears someone tell you that they were god?
Hmm.. I know of some forms of mental illness that produce olfactory hallucinations. I suggest you get some mental help. And soon too...

As for what I think? I think, no, I know you're a liar. Pious Fraud may be a well established christian tactic, but it's still fraud...

I believe you.. You have full assurance of your savation since the holy spirit dwells inside you,, which is amazing.. Non-believers are going to be comletley skeptical of your experience, since their eyes are closed to the truth.. But anyhow God Bless..

If that is true and God really did speak to you then I think that is a good enough reason to believe in God. I am jealous.

i feel everyone should " challenge " god in a sense and find their own proof.. and i feel this is even better as you were someone who at that point was dismissing god
lovely story thank you for sharing xx

You can believe in whatever you want to. I'm not sure what to believe in myself. I don't like religious people that push their beliefs on everyone, every chance they get--their solution to every problem-- is GOD! I'm not saying that you do it. I'm just saying that it's a problem I run across.
