I live in Canada, and a child has to be at least twelve to be home alone here. I would leave them in after-school care.

Question your girls, in regards to how they would handle emergency situations. Do they have a relative or neighbor to call on if they are not sure how to handle a situation? 7 and 9 are still pretty young. You still have the peace of mind while you are at work, to know they are in a safe environment until you get off. Maybe, 12 and 10 would be a better time.

They are way too young. When they're old enough to watch other children (say 11 or 12) then maybe, yes.
It also depends on the child. Some are more mature than others. If you have a doubt, take them with you!

They are too young to be at home by themselves.
My mom drove a school bus for 14 years. She did not allow me to ride the bus home until I was 16. Until I turned 16 I had to go to the bus onsite daycare (K - 5th grade) ...and then the office lounge once I was too old for the daycare.

At age 16 and older, it depends, to a great extent, upon the social skills and individual characteristics of the child or children in question. However, you must NEVER leave any child under 16 years of age alone in the house for ANY length of time. At the ages of your girls, it is more advisable for you to leave them in day care or perhaps, if you are dissatisfied with their current day care setting, to seek a different day care location. However, do NOT, under any circumstances, allow them to come home alone to any location without responsible ADULT SUPERVISION! Best wishes.

Your kids are still too young - one of them should at the very least be a responsible 14 year old, if that is possible in this day and age.

I feel that is still to young to be home alone, but it really depends on the child and their ability to folllow your instructions. And know thwy canreach you if you aren't home. Also if you have a trusted neijbor that can be there in case onf an emergency.

I think they are to young to be at home alone the best age I would say is 15 and above, kids these days are mad, they learn things from school, and practise them at home when they are alone

it totally depends on the maturity of your children. I started coming home to watch my younger siblings at 10. just set out some rules like lock the door as soon as you get home, set an alarm if you have one... no cooking... and no tv, just homework, I think you MAY be able to get away with it, just make sure you are comfortable with it
