I would say I am depressed most of the time, feel very lonely, must have people around, not quite suicidal but get kinda close sometimes-I went to therapy for a short while but cant afford to keep going. What do you think the best type would be for me(medication)?

A doctor will give em to you without a lot of questions... *( they may ask if you are suicidal)*, but for the most part, any D.O. will just hand you a script... A therapist feels their job is to "fix" you... So if you think you wanna be "fixed" and can be....Do the counseling/therapy bit........... If not, get drugs... There are several types of medication they can prescribe, it just depends what you are going through and how much relief you need/want. I was on Celexa for a while, and had to practically literally MAKE myself cry... I felt like I had no feelings, I couldn't be sad, happy, nothing........ So we took it down a little and in the end I ended up liking Zoloft, and Welbutrin...
Good Luck!
p.s. a therapist can actually make you feel worse too... Being they want to know about your pass, and they may try to bring up things that you aren't ready to deal with yet, or that you're not ready to think about...
Also,,, M.D. has a little bit less schooling then a D.O... D.O's want you feeling good, so they jump at the thought of drugs!.. *( i learned in class )*... Anddd.. If you go to a psychologist, they CAN NOT give you drugs... BUT if you go to a Psychiatrist, they CAN give you drugs..... if you can't afford them, consider talking to a minister at a church...... ?.... If you can

See a regular doctor and explain your symptoms and how long you've been having them (anything longer than 2 weeks, without a distinct cause, such as a death, is considered clinical depression). A regular MD can give you a prescription for an SSRI (Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor). This class of drugs corrects serotonin levels in the brain, without altering your general awareness (no drugged up feeling). Some popular choices are Prozac and Celexa. A really good option for what you are feeling would be to get on the meds (it take 2-3 weeks to notice a difference, and about 6 weeks to feel quite good) and then to do some self-help things (on-line or books) if you cannot afford therapy.

There's a difference between the easiest way and the best way.

Any licensed medical doctor can prescribe anti-depressants.

However, only psychiatrists have had enough experience with depression to diagnose the condition and prescribe the correct medication for you.

i might anticipate without issues via fact of fee. some pills and a grin may be plenty greater low priced than the outlay to the particular have confidence than the fee of counselling. i'm with you and anti-depressants could in basic terms be prescribed as a final hotel, no longer a usual hotel, as much as they are probable ok for some. regrettably that's the way of issues while even the NHS is biased in the direction of the fee variety instead of the nicely being of its sufferers.

Doctors, I believe. I do not believe therapists can prescribe them. But while you are waiting to schedule your appointment, check out the symptoms link at www.hufa.org. If your condition is related to a low blood sugar condition, dietary change may help a bit.

A medical doctor (M.D.) is the only person that would be able to prescribe mediction for you.

I would say U definitely need to seek this kind of help at this point.

Go for it...U will feel like a happy/normal person again. Why postpone it?

Your family doctor can prescribe them to you. As far as the best type, you'll have to talk to your doctor and see what he/she thinks. Sometimes you have to experiment with a few to find what works best for you. Good Luck!

A Dr. can prescribe them. Sounds like you may need some counseling though. Hope you do OK.

Talk to your doctor (primary care physician) about how you feel. You can also talk to your therapist or counselor and even though they cannot prescribe you anything they can refer you out to someone who can.
