asap ? no.
Some colleges think they can make Engineers in one or two years.
It took me 7 years full time studies to become an Engineer, two more years to specialise in electronics, and 40 years of eperience to realise that I am STILL not an engineer.
You can't know everything.
Whatever course you take, you will just get a VERY limited knowledge.
And that does NOT make you an engineer, in whatever field.

no, learning a complex subject is not easy and it is not fast

you can learn some simple electronics concepts very quickly and easily by getting and studying a book on basic electronics

you can get an overview of the kinds of things involved reading the excellent wikipedia article
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electronics

organizations like amateur radio groups often have literature for learning basic electronics and local people who would enjoy helping you with it, there are many groups you can search out using the internet, yahoo has a good starting list at
http://dir.groups.yahoo.com/dir/Hobbies___Crafts/Hobbies/Amateur_and_Ham_Radio

in most places in the U.S. there is an amateur radio group no too far away and these guys love to talk and teach and work and practice and share electronics stuff

good luck
