Trust me when I say that I know enough about my computer to know that the solitaire game is gone. Not only is the link missing from the games folder on the start menu, it's missing when you go to the root folder where the games are. It's gone. So my question is--can it be replaced? If so, how? I don't want all the super versions of solitaire, I just want plain old standard solitaire (which seems impossible to find LOL). BTW my disk drives don't work, so putting my XP CD into the computer is not an option. Can this be downloaded anywhere? Thanks!

This is easier than it seems. The "shortcut" may be gone, but I suspect the game is still there. The easiest way to get the shortcut back is:

Hold the mouse over your Games folder in the start like you were going to run a game in it... but RIGHT-CLICK on the folder (not any of the games on the side, but the word "Games" itself.) In the menu that pops up, select Explore (or Explore All Users, either will work)

Up pops a file manager. A tree will be on the left, and either an empty pane or a few icons on the right. In the big white open space on the right, RIGHT-CLICK and move the mouse over the "New" word, where a new menu will appear: pick Shortcut.

A new blank shortcut will appear, and potentially a wizard. If the wizard appears, it asks for the location. You want "%SystemRoot%\system32\sol.exe". Yes, with the % marks and all. If the wizard doesn't appear, you can right click on the Shortcut, select properties, and put "%SystemRoot%\system32\sol.exe" in the "Target" field. You can also right click again on the shortcut, and select Rename to name it as you wish.

Either way, this will put the link back to Solitaire in your games folder.

If you close the File Manager, and go back to your games folder, after a moment, you should see the new shortcut.

Hope this helps!

No need to download, just go to control panel - click Add and Remove programs - choose Add /Remove Windows Components-click Accessories and Utilities and than click games.
