The world has seen several great military leaders, some bad some good but they were still great leaders. For this question it doesn't matter if they were a part of the Axis during WWII or not. Who do you think was the greatest military leader of all time? Be sure to think about their strategy they used, could they motivate the soldiers, tactics and were they natural born leaders.

Gen. Robert E. Lee CSA
This guy led an army outnumbered by more than 3 to 1 for years. Many people believed that the War Between the States would be a quick Northern win. This was not the case. For a man to lead an army greatly outnumbered and out industrialized for these years is great. Even what he did after the war was great.

Leonidas of Sparta, not only did he lead his 300 Spartans against an army of about 500,000 Persians, but he convinced a contingent of 700 Thespians and 500 Thebans to fight along side him. This small band repelled the 500,000 Persians for two days. On the third day a traitor showed the Persians a pass that would allow them to out flank the Spartan forces. When the final battle was over all 1500 of the Spartan contingent were dead, but so were 20,000 Persians.

1. Alexander The Great. (He was the closest person ever to have come close to conquering the world. He even won a battle for his army at the young age of 18. His empire was ruined after his death. Many people said that had he not died at the age of 33, he could have possibly ruled the world. It would be quite possible in my opinion because he conqured most of Asia, including superpowers such as India, China and the fact he ruled the powerful empire of Greece.)
2. Ghangis Khan. (Killed thousands of people himself in one battle. He united most of Asia, and he conquered part of the powerful nation of China. He led the Mongol empire, which he created himself.)
3. Douglas McArthur. (Lead the Allies to victory on DDay. Many people say the battle would have been way longer and more bloodier without his great strategic mind. From what I have read, I don't think he made many mistakes at all. He got many awards, such as the Purple Heart, Medal Of Honor, Silver Star, The Distinguished Fyling Cross, Distinguished Service Cross, Navy Distiguished Service Medal, Army Distinguished Service Medal, and the Bronze Star.)
4. Erwin Rommel (Was such a good leader that he even got the respect of the Allies. He also planned to assaninate Hitler, which meant he was smart enough to know that Hitler was simply an evil man. That also tells you that he did not really want to fight for the Nazis, but he wantd to fight for his country.)
