Help! my 6yr old daughter wants to be a little girl angel?

I'm at my witts end. She talks of dying young, she doesn't want to be an old lady angel. She talks of god all the time. I'm terrified that it's going to happen. What should I do? Please help?

Don't worry too much...I don't think she actually wants to die, she just thinks Angels are pretty.
My 6 year old wants to be a Bratz doll but I don't worry that she'll cut off her nose.
Do you go on about God and heaven a lot.....don't, and don't make a big issue of it in front of her and I'm sure it will pass.

Don't take everything a child says at face value. Sometimes all they want is attention on a particular topic because they saw it on television or something. They get it in their head real good and then don't think of consequences. You need to teach her the consequences. You can do this by making her a halo out of a wire hanger with some white fluffy stuff around it. Then if you want make her some wings, then tell her she's going to be an angel for a day so she can see if she likes it. Then make it very miserable for her. Tell her that once you put the wing on her she's going to become invisible like an angel and you won't see her until the wings come off. But when the wings come off that means she really doesn't want to be an angel. And make sure you tell her that part also. Then play "silent treatment" until she gets the idea. hehe I hope it works. I just had to say that I LOVED!! the answer where someone said to tell her that she gets to pick the age of what type of angel she wants to be. What a great idea.

I also think that it is a stage. Children go through some of the weirdest stages. When I was about 6 I thought I was going to die in my sleep. I wanted to say something wonderful before I died. I picked one word that I thought summed up all wonderful things "love" so before going to sleep I would say that one word "LOVE".

Get her some wings. Halloween in around the corner so you can find them anywhere. Dress her up and take some pictures. Frame a small picture of her as an angel and let her keep it by her bed. Tell her that she IS and angel. God sends people as angels all the time. I have met a few myself. She could be YOUR angel. How has she changed and influenced your life. Isn't that what an angel is for :-)

I've been thinking about you and your daughter a lot since I read your question. Maybe you can try telling her that if she dies young and goes to heaven now, she might not get to be a little girl angel...she just might stay a little girl. Tell her that she IS a VERY SPECIAL little girl angel that God sent down to earth to take care of and love you and others. And that when God knows it is time, he himself will take her up to heaven and let her chose what kind of angel she wants to be. And he will make her that. But if she decides she wants to die young, God will decide for her, and she might not be happy with that.
They go through stages I think. Also, after you explain whatever you chose to explain to her, don't keep on explaining the whole thing every time she brings it up. It may be just a way to get your attention, or it may just be a stage she's going through. If she brings it up, just keep your answer simple. Humor her. "Yes, you would like to be a little girl angel, and you are, baby! Remember what we talked about?" Don't make it too long or she might never grow out of it. It will pass. Don't worry too much!

Tell her that she is a little girl angel on Earth. And she needs to take care of everything that she has to do here before she will be able to be an angel in heaven. And even if she dies when she is old, everything is perfect in heaven and if she wants to be a little girl there, she can. But God wont let her be an angel in heaven, if she doesn't do everything that she has to do on earth first, and then give her some examples of things that she has to do before she can be an angel, for example, take care of you when you get old, have children, get married, teach somebody something new, help people...and whatever else you can thing of

Buy her some angels wings so she can pretend she's a little girl angel, i dont think she will try and kill herself she's just fascinated by the facts of life, are you a very religeous family? tell her that there is no such thing as "old lady angels" and that every female who dies becomes a beautiful young angel!!
if her talks of death become more serious then take her to see a doctor to get to the root!

Hey,watch her closely.She may have watched a TV show or a movie where a young lovely girl dies.Or she may know about someone old dead and doesn't want to be like him/her.Talk to her and ask what does she mean when saying she wants to be a young angel.Why does she like the idea,what does she think will happen when she becomes an angel...that's how you'll find out where this idea comes from.

Explain to her that all little girl angels only get to be little girl angels when they've grown up, had their children and spent a lot of years on earth, they have to do this to prove that they are worthy of becoming the little girl angels. If they try too hard too soon to become these angels they end up being old angels instead.

Maybe if you explain that you won't be able to be with her if she's an angel, she'll change her mind. Tell her all the great things that angels can't do. She'd have to leave her pets/friends behind. Kids say the strangest things.
