well that depends on what HE likes... if you know him well, just think of what he likes, spice it up a little bit. its not all about fancy, its about what he likes.
But he is a man, so you would be safe going with nice juicy Steak, baked potato (with everything) and a glace of wine or champagne

I wouldn't cook for her as i do that every night .I would take her out for a film and romantic meal and give her the desert when we get home .
