These are people known as freethinkers! I have a quote for you: "The bible has noble poetry in it and some clever fables; and some blood drenched history;and a wealth of obscenity: and upwards of a thousand lies" This was said by Mark Twain!

Well, there are likely many psychological factors at work. For example, it is well known that einstein that was uncomfortable with the implications of a "big bang" (namely, beginning) as an outgrowth of his theories. He actually "tinkered" with his theory to avoid that conclusion, but over time the truth got out (penzias and williams etc.)
However, I also disagree with the premise of your question. You seem to think that all or even most intelligent people reject religion. I don't think that is true.
I do think that most atheists are intelligent people (despite their atheism), but that doesn't mean that all religious people are stupid. Rather, I know that religious people cross the spectrum: some stupid, some normal, and some very bright.
If you sampled a long-standing mostly atheistic country, you'd find that most atheists there are stupid as well. It has a lot to do with sampling and the courage to abandon ones upbringing.

There's no evidence that a god exists. Even the idea is ridiculous. Smart, educated people and scientists tend towards being atheists simply because they know more about the world and how it works.

there become no such faith as Islam, and consequently no such people as Muslims till the seventh century. Jews weren't in basic terms those of the tribe of Judah. At one factor the country of Israel cut up into 2 countries. The north united states of america stored the call Israel. The south united states of america took the call Judah. From that factor on Jew become an straightforward call for any Isrealite. The north united states of america become ultimately conquered and in no way got here lower back as a rustic. Christ become crucified, it is genuinely demonstrated via the historical past of the Christians, the Jews, and the Romans alike. The Quran lies. The Gospels in no way describe the followers of Christ as Nazarenes. The Bible is a traditionally good checklist. The Quran, although, isn't. Christianity did no longer evaluate itself a seperate faith from Judaism. in reality, the word faith is rarely used in any respect, on account that in case you have been a Jew (an Israelite), you have been a Jew the two in nationality and in faith. there become no massive massive difference between the two. although, in case you desire a verse, Acts 26:4-6 Paul calls Judaism a faith, and nevertheless identifies himself with it.

About half of the smart scientists are actually very religious in a mainstream faith. About half of smart scientists are atheist or agnostic. Scientists are just slighty less religious than the general population.

If smart people tend to be atheists, that should be telling you something.
Maybe the whole idea of gods doesn't actually make any sense and gods are not necessary to explain anything we observe.

They tend to be so smart to the point of being blind.

"Smart people" trust in their intelligence
"Rich people" trust in their riches
Jeremiah 9:23-24
23Thus saith the LORD, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches:
24But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the LORD which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the LORD.
