I will break it down like this. If one believes in God then they have some sort of faith in their hearts that promotes love. If someone has God in their lives and believes in something so very powerful as the faith in a something more greater then all of us that inhabit earth than that person is very special indeed and is enriched with God's Love, therefore giving off Love as well. Thats why we say "God is Love"

Most people that believe in God are "loving" people because God says they need to be.

It means that there is no hate in God. It means that he is pure, untainted. It means that you can have an honest, trusting relationship with him without fear of retribution. He is the Father that never fails to love you, provide for you and protect you. He has made promises to you in his word, the Bible, and he will keep those promises just as he has made them. You can absolutely trust him to plan your life and guide you through it IF you are willing to trust him. God will never fail you. Jesus loves you.

Literally, it means there is not some magic man in the sky called god, but rather, love is what we call god.

God created us in his image and just as we are able to love others, so God loves us. We are told of his great love for us at John 3:16: "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."
God promises to end all injustice, pain, suffering and death, for he truly loves us and wants us to be happy.

John 3:16
"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son,[f] that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son.[g] 19This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. 20Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. 21But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God."[h]
