all you have to do is look around you at all the misery, pain, and suffering....surely an all powerful, all seeing god would not let little children, and innocents suffer in this way....or is it that it's a pretend god, who always sides with the rich and the powerful......i'm lost..

spamandham: it's not the fear of the unknown....it's just that i know people who believe..with their eyes closed, and dont ask questions...but they are at peace and seemingly content....i'm not. could it be that ignorence really IS bliss?

psych0bug: you've put into words exactly how i feel. i tried to close my eyes and believe in my religion's preachings...it tells me od punishes evil....it tells me to believe that true and good people will go to heaven, but then why do they have to suffer here? and i see people who at peace with themselves and the world....and i want to be like them....only i can't...i cant shut my eyes and not see the truth.

I ask this every day.
They say to read the Bible.
I did, but didn't find God in it.
I do see the beauty in things and people around me...still no God though.
I like the people who say Jesus came to them.
Why them and not me...are they some how special...better than me...more worthy?
If they are delusional than how does one accomplish this?
I wish to be among the Psycho's and Cultist.
If it is a fantasy, then I wish to be apart of it willingly...but my sense of logic will not let me participate.
If there is a God, maybe he forsaken us.

first of all you cant be convinced by someone else. when it comes to faith, faith lies in your heart and soul and those 2 places only. believing in god is something you do on your own. it is a choice made by you and only you. God is there. believe it or not he is. misery pain and suffering are all existing feelings caused by not having that stable committed relationship with lord. first hand i know. ive been there. i think the same things. all the time as a matter of fact. but you CANNOT let yourself believe it. in my eyes, i believe we think about what you said in your question because satan is trying to direct us into another path. he's trying to make us think and question our own beings so we dont know what to believe. and when something like this happens the best thing to do is dig out ur bible and start reading. everything that happens that is bad in this world is from satan. satan rules this world. this isnt gods world its satans world. god is only here to protect and for u to follow him. do what he asks. but he will be back. very soon the lord is coming and you must believe and have faith if u want to be saved and not have to go thru the 7 year tribulation. this is what i believe just some words of wisdom for you. good luck.
and hey if your interested watch the left behind series. it will show u something cause it opened my eyes very wide.
and if u reaad the bible start at john. you will fall in love with jesus.

Losing ones faith isnt always a bad thing.Asking questions is sacred too, for it indicates a genuine concern and desire for truth.You dont need to get your faith" back,"( look at that word..) - you need to experience its evolution. Ask outloud for guidance and help answering some of these enormous questions - be open to answers you recieve from all sources, not just the expected ones.Often Spirit will show you a path of inquiry rather than a pat answer.Re- read that last sentence!Youre on it now!I can recommend books based on what helped me most, but there are as many paths as there are people.Here are my suggestions - " A Course In Miracles", Kryon books - by Lee Carrol and Jan Tober.Most importantly, bear this in mind - THERE IS NO WAY TO REMAIN "LOST" FOREVER!!

Why do you want to believe? Is it simply the fear of the unknown?
Don't fret so much. Life after gods is good. You really can live just fine without religious delusions. Odds are you will live a more fulfilling life if you concentrate on the here and now rather than living for death like so many believers do.

Well, you've lost your "faith", which, for all intense purposes is usually translated "believing" (gotta do a little research). So, you have quit believing God because you're looking at the world, which is the playground for the adversary (i.e. Lucifer, the devil, satan... the prince of the power of the air, the god of this world)- remember, he (the devil) took dominion over this earth when Adam & Eve "fell", and God is such a loving God that He gave us freewill choice!!! What good would it do if God had set it up so that all we could do was love & serve Him? What kind of love would that be? You have to choose to love & believe God for it to affect you! So, point being-to answer your question-God wants everyone to be saved & come to a knowledge of Him (I Timothy 2:4)... BUT it is freewill choice, which even God cannot violate & unfortunately there are a lot of people who deny the one true God & serve false gods (which is glory to the devil) or are ignorant, or have been taught wrong... There are SO many reasons why! But God DOES promise that those hungering & thirsting after righteousness SHALL (absolutely) be filled. Remember, God is the searcher of hearts... He WILL make it available to those who truely desire to know, and God ALSO says that "..the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favor to men of skill, but time and chance happeneth to them all." (Ecclesiastes 9:11) So, unfortunately, things aren't always so peachy-like the saying goes "sh*t happens" But, you are right, God knows... He is all seeing & He has known & chosen(He knew we would choose Him) from BEFORE THE FOUNDATIONS OF THE WORLD (Ephesians 1:4-let that soak in a moment) There's so much misery, pain & suffering because 1) people don't have God
2) those that have God do not know their "sonship rights" & that the adversary has NO dominion over them-they allow the adversary to have dominion because they have not been properly taught... the adversary tricks them-that's his game! And I hate it when I hear people attribute that evil to God!!! Not MY God! God does NOT "test" people!!! The adversary does & "breaks" them... Think about it, all those that are "afflicted & suffering" Do you really think that the devil is going to ignore the people who are living/serving/loving the one True God??? Hell no! He's gonna attack them!!! He's trying to bring everyone down with him because he knows that he's gonna die!
3) the devil is the "god of this world".
Saying you WANT to believe is an oxymoron... you do or you don't. You need to be "planted like a tree" & unwavering. Remember, The Bible is the Word of God-it has all things pertaining to life & godliness, and you have to believe that the word of God is the will of God... I cannot believe FOR you, but I can believe with you! It takes diligent work & study, but learning how to read the bible & UNDERSTAND it are key! I encourage you to look at all God has done for us, search deeper & if you truely are "hungering & thirsting", God will make sure that you are filled (to overflowing!) You should not blame god for all ur or other peoples misseries. Whatever u will sow today will ripe tommorrow. So whatever other people are suffering its becoz of their own wrong deeds, which they must have committed either in this birth or in their earlier births. You see the cycle never ends. And god is not to be blamed for all that, you yourself is the culprit. Why is it so that some children are born in a kings house and others are abandoned after their birth like orphans. Its all due to their deeds in their previous births.
god has given u this beautiful life not to mourn on ur,or other peoples misseries, but to free yourself from this cycle of life and death and do good deeds, to make ur life a better one. And remember that whatever god does is for ur well being. Have this much faith on GOD.

Never lose your faith! It gets hard often, but you have to understand that all things happen for a reason. We don't know why God allows children to be hurt or killed. That is not for us to understand.
God gave us free will and when we choose it, we must suffer the consequences of all the decisions we make. Some of those consequences involve innocent bystanders unfortunately. God loves each and every one of us regardless of what we do. That doesn't mean we will not be punished for the actions we carry out that go against God.
Believe, pray, repent and serve God. I know it can be easier said than done at times, but you know God expects us to stand strong even in our weakest moments. He is always with us and He will do whatever we allow Him to do. If we do not accept Him or believe in Him, He will step back!

I think people suffer for a reason. I'm not trying to say children commit a sin an God punishes them with dreadful diseases...but imagine what the world would be like with too many people in it who are exactly the same? Maybe God has these people suffering for us to help them. Anyways how would I know God's plans.

From your question you obviously lack faith but it is probably not convincing that you need it that you probably need to deal with sin in your life. The main reason for atheism is that people want to violate God's moral laws, and if they can believe there is no God then there is no sin and they can live as they want. The Bible says "your sins have made a separation between you and your God...". Take a serious look at your life and compare it with the teachings of the Bible and deal with your sin. Then faith will be natural.

The devil is tricking you into believing that all is lost and that there is no hope for you. the next thing that he will be telling you is to commit suicide, that this is the only way out. The fact that you are crying out for help indicates that you have not lost your faith, but are looking for strength. Go back to your first love, the word of God, and gather your strength from the Bible. Pray. Cry out to Jesus. Stop watching TV---everything on it is negative and a lie, especially the news. Begin to memorize scripture verses---this will get the word of God into your heart. Start with the greatest Psalm of all--Psalm 23. Memorize it and recite it anytime that you feel yourself falling into a depressed mood. Get away from the noise and commotion of society. Find a quiet place where you can be alone with God. You will snap out of this. Jesus loves you.
