The main problem with the situation you describe is that you were being completely passive. You're expecting others to clear a path for you to enjoy yourself; then, you're disappointed because you're left out. It doesn't sound like you made a very strong positive impression on him. On the other hand, he's not your "type" if he ignores you.
You should try to get to the point where you're comfortable dancing by yourself, asking someone YOU want to dance with to dance with YOU, and not to expect people to pursue you just because you fancy the way they look.
How can you let a person you don't know make you feel stupid?

I have danced a lot in my my life. I'm 50 and I've had women do the same thing, well they walk off the floor while we danced. That is very rude what he did. Dancing is a very intimate thing between a man and a women. I would find someone else to dance with and forget him.

Don't worry. Usually people imagine it more embarrassing than it really is. It's probably like no big deal when people see it happening. They probably didn't even understand the situation. Try picturing you as a person on the dance floor, and some other person being pushed out. And yeah, like others said, he probably was shy and didn't want to make it obvious for his friends. Don't be hurt at all.

Honey, some guys are just jerks like that. You shouldnt be hard on yourself. Such incidents happen all the time to almost everybody. Plus it's not like you were gonna fall in love, it was just for fun, a mere dance, he's not worth it.

Just keep on trying, as long as you enjoy dancing. Dont be affected by such unpleasant move. Somehow, some where you can find a good much. If you ignore it, you'll lose a lot. Just remain with it and enjoy

Maybe they feel the same way.
If you play it too cool, people think you're not interested. It is possible to keep your sense of pride and still project some warmth. It's a balance you may need to work on.

When your dance partner is no longer dancing with you, walk off the dance floor. When they ask you why you did that, say "If I wanted to dance alone, I would have stayed at home." It is extremely rude for someone to do that to you.

He really doesn't seem to care--so why should you care?
Perhaps you ought to steer clear of pubbing for the sake of meeting prospective boyfriends in future; just make friends. It'll be less awkward that way.

That is horrible. I hope your type doesn't do this to you all the time! You acted as gracefully as you could under the circumstances. I would not ever talk to that guy again.
