Hell is where all the dead are buried. It is the common grave of mankind. It is not a place of torment. Here is where the name "hell" or in Hebrew "sheol" can be found in the Hebrew Scriptures:
Psalms 139:8: " If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there."
Proverbs 9:18: " But he knoweth not that the dead are there; and that her guests are in the depths of hell."
Proverbs 15:24: "The way of life is above to the wise, that he may depart from hell beneath."
Amos 9:2: " Though they dig into hell, thence shall mine hand take them; though they climb up to heaven, thence will I bring them down."
Jonah 2:2: " And said, I cried by reason of mine affliction unto the LORD, and he heard me; out of the belly of hell cried I, and thou heardest my voice." (The belly of the fish that swallowed Jonah would have been his grave, had God not rescued him)
When Adam and Eve sinned, they were told they would return to the ground from where they came. All who died afterwards and who now die, go to hell (the grave) and it is comforting to know that they are not being tortured. The Bible says the dead know nothing at all. (Ecclesiastes 9:5, 10)
Did you know that hell will soon be done away with--yes, hell will be a thing of the past. At Revelation 20:13,14 promises us_"And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death."
Death will bo no more and hell will be no more for without death, there will be no need for hell (graves) Does this not make sense?
God is love and we can be assured that he is not merciless or sadistic like the churches of Christendom make him out to be. When people say that God tortures humans, it makes Satan very happy. We need to prove Satan a liar.

Since Hell, Michigan was mentioned...
My dad was a Methodist minister. He had three small churches in Michigan's Upper Pennisula that included the cities of Christmas, Michigan and Paradise, Michigan. He got moved from there to a church in Hell, Michigan.
He never did decide if that was a promotion or not.

Its in Michigan. I'm not kidding. There really is a "Hell", Michigan. There is also a "Nirvana" in Michigan, so I guess the center of the universe is in Michigan. I'll bet New Yorker's are upset about that...LOL!!!

It exists only in the minds of those who are afraid that they don't have control over their own actions and need to have a threat in their lives to keep them in line.

Hell is in your heart IF you don't have Jesus Christ there. Hell is the absence of the Holy Spirit/God/Jesus Christ. If you haven't asked Jesus into your heart, now is the time. He will give you true peace.
