I smoked for 17 years. Me and my boyfriend both quit cold turkey together. And now after 3 years now we are still both smoke free. I wish you and hubby all the best and always remember it can be done!!!! GOOD LUCK!!

First off I have never been a smoker, I have tried it once, but thankfully wasn't addicted and have asthma. From what I do know (both my folks quit smoking, and my fiance) is that you have to want to quit. When you want to quit that makes things easier. There is a good book at is fairly cheap, Allan Carrs Easy way to Stop smoking. To summarize it talks about the mental push of quiting. Veiw the habit as a little monster. Another thing is substitue the action. My fiance starting sucking lollypops, while my dad and mom chewed gum. This eliviates the action of smoking. One thing that helped with my fiance is rashoning. He would give me his packs of smokes, and we would cut down from there. He smoked a pack and a half a week. So we averaged it out to how much he smoked a day. When he bought a pack he would give it to me and I would give him the amount of smokes he was allowed during the day. It used to 7 smokes a day, so we cut it to 5 a day for 2 weeks. then 4 a day for two weeks and 3 day for 3 weeks, 2 a day for 3 weeks, and 1 a day for a month. Then 1 every two days, for a week, the 1 every 3 days for two weeks. then 1 avery 3 days for two weeks, 1 every 4 days for two weeks, 1 every 5 days for weeks then 1 a week to none a week. They say it take 2 week for the nicotine to get out of your system, and once you pass that two week hurdle any cravings are mental rather than addiction. Also keep in mind if takes 21 days to make or break a habit, however to expect it to take longer for addictions. It helps if you have people supporting you but most importantly you have to have the mind set that you can do it.

I gave up smoking 2 years ago after 39 years I was lucky that the patches worked for me My brother has used hypnotherapy and 3 days short of 12 months he took it back up again very disappointed we are I know how hard it is for people to give it up but you really need to want to give it up as well
I didnt give it up for health reasons my health has not changed it was the money side of it for me tired of the goverment getting the taxes and the non smokers saying the smoker never paid their way
anyway I wish you all the luck if you can give it up cold turkey but please do try it will be healthier on your hip pocket in the long run good luck

The cheapest way... start with a joke first:
A boyfriend of a girlfriend were courting... the girl looks cool... especially when she smokes... looks elegant... really... you know the cool look...
They held hands for 3 months, got to know each other very well... their relation progressed to second stage... kissing...
But they broke off... quite immediately when they started kissing...
The boyfriend said when kissing her, he felt like licking an sah tray...
Believe me... I am a smoker. did know how it smell... till I really smell it... its horrible! try smelling an ash tray when u wnat to smoke... it helps.

Do research on the internet, library, web md, etc., on lung cancer and look at a lung that has been damaged by smoke. Ugggghhhh
that should make you quit!
