There is no diet, it should be a permanent lifestyle change, otherwise you will gain it all back.

Eat less, eat better, eat more fiber, exercise more, drink more water.

I recommend the Atkins Diet which emphasizes reduction in carbs intake or, the South Beach Diet which I hear is even better and is a diet similar to Atkins. I Lost 65 pounds on Atkins. You do not go hungry either. As with any diet you have to stick with it and let it become a permanent lifestyle or you will gain it all back. Also plenty of exercise and drink a lot of water helps the whole process too. Good luck.

There's no 'quick fix' that'll help you lose weight and keep it off.

Your best bet it to change your lifestyle - cut down drinking and smoking, eat less fatty food and takeaways, eat more fruit and veg, more wholegrains, make sure you're getting enough calcium, vitamins and minerals, and drink loads of water.

This shoul not only help you lose wight, but should improve your overall health and wellbeing.

Oh, and plenty of exercise - aerobic exercise for 20-30 minutes 2-3 times a week, and some stretching and toning exercise as well.

And get plenty of sleep so you've got the energy to do all this exercise.

Eat less. Fats and sugars being very high in calories mean you need to cut back on them and on alcohol. Have a look online for sites to help with calorie control. Drink plenty of water. Exercise is needed to so you can show off your slimmer new bod.

Need to eat a healthy diet rich in fresh produce that you will be able to maintain for life though or else yo-yo weight lose/weight gain is the result and a very poor result it is as well being worse for you than merely being overweight. Also important not to starve yourself or the body goes into 'famine' mode and instead of using up your fat stores (good) uses up your muscle instead(bad). so check out with one of the online sites or your GP to find out what is the right amount of calories for you per day. It's likely to be a minimum of 1500.

Good luck.

proteins foods will keep you from craviong snacking. they keep u held longer liek chicken breats /tuna/ adn fro one protein u have 2 carbs but nto the empty ones. complex carbs are ok .. a bagel fro instance will hold u over longer till lunch time and a 2 egg omeletter high protein is in eggs adn cheap its the yolks ppl worry about. soda and sweets are high carbs and empty and corn and peas are high carbs when u can opt to have green beans beanas are high in proteing compared to most veggies go for salads big ones.. bagel and egg in the am chicken tuna for dinner but usa ppl eat backwards.. the big meal should be at lunch as ur moving then this is key- to move otherwise food just lingers and doesnt break down drink more milk as well.. protein powder ones are good too

Low carbohydrate, Low G.I. because these diets naturally suppress the appetite and create a feeling of being satiated.

Rich breakfast, light lunch, nothing after 3 p.m. and the whole day through lots of water. It worked for me: from UK 16 to 10.

Oh, and no fitness or such dull things...

Eat less calories than are needed to maintain your current weight. That's it, there is no magic formula.

The less calories you eat the more you will lose. But don't starve yourself because that will never work.

Also it is not going to happen overnight.
