Hi I worked for a dentist for 6 years and heard this question many times. Teeth whitening treatments are good but can often be expensive. There are many options available on your local high street in the form of whitening toothpastes, gels which you can apply on tooth trays and whitening dental floss to name but a few.
Whitening toothpastes are good for removing everyday stains such as black coffee or red wine but are not in your mouth long enough to actually do much more than this. Using a whitening toothpaste on the corner of a face cloth (sounds weird but trust me on this) actually has a much better effect than using it on a toothbrush as you can actually polish your teeth with the cloth and buff away the stains.
If you are planning to use a gel whitening system then I recommend that you have it done professionally at you dental surgery as the gels contain acid to remove the stains and whiten enamel but if you have any cavities the chemicals can also make these worse, so you will need to have a routine check up and any required treatment completed before using a whitening gel. Whitening gels that are readily available in high street shops also tend to be a little harsher than those available from your dentist so you may find that using these could cause gum sensitivity. If you opt for whitening treatment at your dentist you will also be provided with a custom made tooth tray that fits your mouth perfectly and no one elses mouth rather than the "One size fits all" variety found in shop bought treatment kits. This means that you will get a much better result due to the closeness provided by your tray.
Although having treaments done in the surgery is more expensive, the results are far superior to anything available to by in the shops and are definately worth a try.

I had the zoom whitening done. It cost about $500.00, and a little uncomfortable to sit with the tray in your mouth for that long, but I thought the results were well worth it. The only mild pain that I really experienced was that my teeth were a little sensitive to heat and cold for a few weeks.

I have been happy with my experience at BriteSmile Spa. There was a little teeth sensitivity for a few days, but other then that wonderful. If you don't want to spend $400+ for professional bleaching -- then try the Crest Premium White Strips.

A waste of money. It is unnatural. If you pay a dentist to have it done, you spend money for nothing. In a short while, the teeth revert back to their natural color. And you have to redo the treatment.
Clean teeth are way more important than the color of teeth. Spend your time, money and effort on brushing with good toot paste and dental floss.

Don't waste UR money.

Invest in a good toothbrush, good toothpaste & brush 3 times a day, if that's what it takes.
Most teeth brightening products damage UR teeth.

it's great!
I've only used crest whitening strips and they work like a charm.

I think getting them professionally done would be a lot better though. Probably healthier for your teeth too.
