Actually, three times. I was baptized as an infant, but one of my sets of grandparents was unable to attend, so my parents had it redone a couple weeks later for them.
When it was 19 had I was batized again by immersion to show the commitment I had made myself to Christ several months before that.

The first time I was baptized I know the Lord showed me as I was being baptized the things I needed to understand. I looked down and noticed that my feet were bare and the thought came to me that when a person in in a coffin, there feet are bare.
As the minister showed me to cross my hands over my chest I remembered seeing people in a coffin layed out just this way. As I was pushed down under the water and came up again looking back I remember the words ....."It is no longer I that live, but Christ that lives within me."
This was a very long time ago. I was baptized again as I had sinned many times and felt the need to "do my first works over."
Thank you for the opportunity to share.

Yes, but I was baptised when I was just a month old so I really cant tell my experience, but baptism as a sacrament is very important as it means a new member is joining God's family, we are cleansed of our sins and are born again in spirit.

Yep. Twice. Apparantly one Christian church's baptism wasn't good enough for the other Christian church.
After spending decades listening to Christians argue with each other over every little detail in the bible, each claiming to have the only true interpretation, I finally got sick of it all. None of them seem to focus on the message Jesus taught, instead it has all become a prideful game of one-up-manship.
To me, anachronistic rituals such as baptism were meant to highlight a message, much like the other stories in the bible, but people take them way too seriously. Instead of baptism being viewed as a ritualistic "fresh start" people started believing that failure to have one, or even done the "right way" would bar a person from heaven.
Jesus taught love, patience, acceptance... he taught that you should respect others, respect yourself and respect God.
That should be our focus. Not the little rituals.

The sacrament of baptism is an outward display of your love for God and your desire to follow His perfect plan for your life. When you are baptized, you are born-again (as a new creation man - human). You are cleansed of all past sin and recognized as a child of God.
Though we are all considered "God's children", Only those who are baptized are said to be covered in the blood of Jesus. Hence, when God sees them, He sees the blood of His only begotten son - which distinguishes the 2 classifications.

Yes, and the experience is totally personal per individual.
Asking what one's experience is like and you're going to get 4 billion different "experience" answers because it's a personal thing.
What did the experience mean to you before the baptism? What about after? Did you gain anything from it? I know I did. And I'll never regret it.

I was only a young child when I was baptized so I do not know at that time, only went through together with my parents. Now, it's like giving me something to look to for advice when I need one. The bible I mean.

To me it is a symbolic sign of dying out to sin and raising up again in the newness of life by faith in Jesus Christ. It is confessing Him as my Lord and Savior before others. It was a joyous experience for me, one I'll never forget. Jesus said "He that believes and is baptized shall be saved.."

I was christened as a baby, and to them it meant that it was okay to take me out of the house. In our family, if a baby dies without a christening, it goes to limbo, and nobody wants that so they keep the baby indoors and are very nervous until the priest gets there and the christening is done. That's where the godparents are named too, so you have people to raise you if anything happens to both of your parents. To me, it just means that I'm Catholic.
