There are scanners made especially for 2" by 2" slides. They are not very expensive, and they will give you very high resolution JPG files.
Otherwise, you can take a digital camera picture of each projected slide. Not very good quality!

You have to scan the slides. There are two types of scanners avaiable - flatbed and drum scanners. The flatbed scanners will have a slide holder where you can put your slide and scan. The drum scanners are costlier and are meant for professional use.
Depending on your requirement you can scan your slides and then save in to your computer. However, you should remember that when you scan your slides, you will get some noise in your images. So your images would require some processing in Photoshop.
The good thing is you can remove scratches etc after you scan.

You get two kinds of scanner. One is called a flat-bed scanner, and it's the same thing used to scan documents, except that you use an attachment to hold (and illuminate) your slide. The results are terrible!
The other kind is called a film scanner, and it is specifically designed to scan slides or negatives. The results are often very good - but they are expensive. Nikon, Canon and Konica Minolta are the best makes to look for.
If you are wanting to scan just a few slides (and even if you want to do a lot!) many photographic shops these days have industrial quality scanners, and can digitise your slides for very little cost, and put the resulting JPG files on a CD for you.
Remember to discuss issues such as resolution (it's worth getting the maximum - you can always reduce it on your computer later) and colour balance (I prefer them not to 'tweak' my photos, and to do it myself) with the photo shop people.
