Excuse me, but most Americans don't drive "old" cars. Infact I looked it up on google after seeing your question and only 13% of Americans drive a vehicle older than 1997. Besides my parents drive an "Escalade" something you "English" could never afford. The only things you can afford are cars that are 50 years old.

People drive what they have, can afford, or like to collect. Just because a car is "new" doesn't make it better. If you don't have to drive or pay for it -- why do you care --- I'm sure they don't care what you think because their still getting from point A to point B.

Whoa--that's quite a generalisation you are making there. Why do the Brits drive "M" reg cars-- I see them all over the place? Probably because they can't afford anything better, don't you think?

They are classics!!
and I would rather drive an older car and live in a nice house that I own---- than drive a expensive gas guzzler and live in a dump.

Well, we tend to use common sense over here....common sense says that if a vehicle is in good repair, and is still serviceable, then there is no reason not to drive it.
Get your money out of the vehicle,. instead of wasting it.

Nostalgia, unique design, memory-evoking etc. Important thing is that the car is road-worthy.
