I always attended church and Sunday School as a child, but drifted away from the church. I am single now and don't really feel accepted by family-oriented congregations. I also would like to "be" (attend services) rather than "do" (be a super church volunteer). Any suggestions? Can single adults really be treated with respect and dignity in churches today? (Without being asked to join the "singles" group?)

yes. God is always willing to welcome you back, and in fact has never stopped loving you. There are many singles in my church including me and i dont feel any less accepted because of that.

Yes, I believe you can.

I am a single and I am attending a community-based church with many families after not attending church for 4 years. In addition, I'm also leading a small group of 3 singles, 3 couples and 5 kids. Even though I do feel out of place sometimes, but still I thank God for my church where I can fellowship with people who are warm and sincere.

Keep trying and don't give up even if it means visiting different churches.

I definitely think you could go back to church. You may have to try several churches before you find one that you are comfortable with. As for being asked to join the singles group, wouldn't you feel more accepted in a church where they're inviting you to be a part of the activities going on than one where they don't? Whether you go to those activities or not is still up to you.

You absolutely can return to church after many years of not attending. I did. I went back to my home chruch which is a United Mehodist church. I would suggest a non denominationla church or a large church with an active single group or sunday school class.

genuinely. you do not should be a Christian with the intention to attend a Christian church. it truly is an effective studying journey. different church homes do issues otherwise, yet i do not recognize of any church that could want to anticipate a concentrated visitor to provide something. My church would not even element out giving or tithing - we only have a field interior the back so people provides in the experience that they prefer to. it truly is continually solid to talk with the pastor. maximum of them received't positioned rigidity on you for a dedication to the church in case you purely courteously tell them why you're there. it truly is not staggering to be condescending or to bait them of their personal church, yet ninety 9% will be happy that you've desirous to go back to benefit, no matter if you genuinely trust.

The important thiing to remember is that we do not go to church service (or Mass for the Catholic) to be accepted but to worship and praise God.

Focus on worshipping and praising God and you will fit in.

Do not get hung up on denominations, try several churches in your area, and choose the one that is the most help to you.

God lives in the hearts of those who believe in him, ( and in heaven) so going to a church is not always the answer. God said is better to go into a closet to pray to be seen by God, than to pray in the open to be seen by man. Just do what is best for you, follow your heart.

Christ is always calling people to come back to Him with open arms. You will be most welcomed to return to the fold.
