And what do you think of those who disagree with your definition?

lol. I wonder if you'll get anyone to admit to feeling "wrong" about their definition.

I certainly don't feel wrong about mine, but I don't believe that there is any one right definition, either. For others who disagree with me, that is their prerogative. I believe that there are some more pathological varieties of Christianity than others, but I suppose that's just natural in a religion created by fallible humans. I don't believe that Christianity is the one true path, it's just what works for me. All faiths are equally valid as long as they lead to love, tolerance, charity, liberty and justice for ALL.

Why would anyone think their own definition of Christianity is wrong? If it truly is their own definition, then viewing it as wrong would be a contradiction.

My belief is a simple one. If you believe in the bible, as many people do, it describes the life of Christ in very simple terms. Christ was a humble man and taught many simple lessons, not the least of which was to treat every man as if he were your own brother.

My definition of Christianity is simple as well - being a Christian means that you should TRY to live your life as Christ would have. Don't steal, try not to sin (the definitions of this are limitless), and - above all else - don't judge others.

There are many "Christians" who spend so much time judging others that I think if Christ were alive today, he'd have little time for them. If there is a God, and I believe that there is, the Christians out there should leave the judging to God and work on trying to be better people themselves.

Christ lived his life as an example. I try to do the same. Athiests have their beliefs and I don't ever try to dispel their beliefs - nor should other Christians. Christianity is not the same as Religion -Christianity is a belief system, a faith. Religion is a man-made interpretation of beliefs.

Either way, I think that everyone should believe in their own definition of what Christianity is. I just sometimes feel ashamed to be associated with some of the "Christians" that exist in this world - they give the rest of the believers bad names more often than not.

Great question!

A Christian is defined by the Bible as someone who:
1.) repents of their sins (that is, acknowledges the severity of their sins, and makes the decision to stop doing them)
2.) asks forgiveness for their sins from God
3.) proclaims, out loud, that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, was crucified for their sins, died and was buried, was resurrected on the third day, and proclaims that He is their Lord and Saviour, and lives in a Christ-like manner
4.) becomes born again (that is, they become indwelt by the Holy Spirit, and are no longer the same person they once were), and it is evidenced by baptism (representing the burial [submerging under water] of the old person, and being reborn [emergence] in the new)

Anyone who disagrees with that definition would need to show me, in a verse, where they do not need to repent, nor ask forgiveness, nor proclaim His name, nor need to be born again. They will not find such a verse. Instead, they may want to question their salvation, and spend more time reading the Bible.

I think I have the right definition of Christianity and it is:

People have set Jesus up as an idol to worship him; they have even made him the sacrificial lamb; mutilated of God for their "sins."

It is way off base; if you look all the way through the Bible concerning this theme, it is evident that God never wanted animal, and certainly not human sacrifice, but man insists on mutilating something on an altar.

The only ones who would fight me on my definition of Christianity are probably Christians....

The only definition of a Christian is one who is a follower of Jesus Christ and His teachings and lives their lives as Jesus would. It's black and white, not gray. There is no other definition.

Jesus already said, seeking the kingdom is looking for silver & gold.

It's NOT an easy TASK. Everybody claims they got the REAL deal ! Good Luck, keep seeking, especailly when you think you got the real deal !

Just about anything you say is debatable. There will always be people who are just itching to start an argument with you, for the sake of arguing. I keep my opinions to myself, and try to avoid confrontations. Arguing is NON PRODUCTIVE.
