Etiquette is a system of rules and conventions that regulate social and professional behaviour. In any social unit there are accepted rules of behaviour upheld and enforced by legal codes; there are also norms of behaviour mandated by custom and enforced by group pressure. An offender faces no formal trial or sentence for breach of etiquette; the penalty lies in the disapproval.

By leading by example. A lot of parents are the do as I say not as I do type. Well, if you eat at the table with your child and show your child propper etiquette, your child will more than likely not get in the habit of eating in the living room or taking food to their room (grrrrr...) Just teach and show. Don't be a hypocrite.

1. Keep having more kids until you get a girl
2. Name that girl Etiquette.
Ha ha!
But seriously, first educate yourself (etiquette books, web sites and so on) to make sure that you are passing on the correct information and (more importantly) that it is up-to-date.
Then lead by example, and set aside an hour a week to cover certain broad topics (dining, introductions, correspondence, "netiquette", etc.) During lessons, use mostly Q & A techniques and role-playing.
One caveat: don't let charm/etiquette lessons get tedious for your child. If they become unpleasant, he/she will lose interest very quickly and become resistant.

Parents are the ideal examples for children. We can often see them imitating their parents. So keep a watch on self behaviour and tell your kids politely as and when a situation arises as to what is supposed to be right and what is wrong.Make sure you are friendly in your approach as kids tend not to listen to parnets when they are in their teens. Good luck for parenting.

Start teaching the child as soon as they are able to understand what is proper and what is not proper. That's what we do in the south.
