Back when I was younger, I could drink alcohol and not get all depressed. It was a pick me up that helped me dance and be friendly. It only took me once or twice to actually get drunk to know my limitations.. 3 beer max and no liquor at all. Which isn't much but for my small frame it was plenty. I liked the way I felt and the way it loosened me up and made me think I could dance. I never went to the bars to pick up men, but I had a great time flirting which was something I was too shy to do sober. Of course, even at 34, my body says no more. Now I can't even drink one beer and not get a headache. Thats fine. I have grown up enough I can dance without it and I don't feel the need to have men flirt anymore.. so... Alcohol in moderation can be fine....

Well I've never had alcohol but there were times I seriously thought about it. One time I wanted to fit in, another time it was my 21st birthday and that's what everyone does, another time I wanted to tell someone l liked them but I knew I never would when I was thinking clearly, I wanted an escape from the world and to stop thinking for awhile, I was at a party and my favorite television actor asked why I wasn't drinking and I wanted to impress him.

I don't drink alcohol. And I agree that it makes people slow and dumb. It also makes people dangerous. They're easily triggered and driving under influence is a killer. Unfortunately people are convinced they're good drivers when they have been drinking. Ok this does not apply to everyone who drinks, but I know quite a few of 'm.

It relaxes you and takes the edge off of a hard day.
But exercise does, too.
I gave it up today and hope to never drink anything again.
I am not an alcoholic but it is just not healthy and sets a bad example for others.

Your question makes unwarranted ASSumptions. Some people drink alcohol because they like the taste of it - not to get drunk. Others drink it for that little buzz that they get after consuming a few, but not too many.
I know very few people who drink only to get drunk.

It's been called "liquid courage" and "a social lubricant". Drank in moderation, it breaks down social barriers.
The problem is when people don't know how to handle drinking and keep going when they've had enough.
"In vino veritas" (In wine, there is truth)

so people can do what they truly, and usually secretly want to do, and blame it on booze. You know, prim girls that become wanton sexkittens when they're drunk, or shy guys that become wanna be players when they're drunk. People that don't have the courage to stand up for themselves can be brave and get in fights when they're drunk.
