I managed a record five snooze button presses this morning (nine minutes per standard snooze) and while those pocket sleep bursts felt great at the time I ended up five minutes late for work. That got me thinking is the snooze button with its sleepy delights really an enemy in disguise??

It's a foe. I can press that snooze button up to 9 times - and I always end up being late. I had to go and get one of those old fashioned ones that don't have one so that I know I HAVE to get up. So foe, definitely!

Well I wish I could find the snooze button! I'm always so tired I just turn over and hit the alarm off button so I fall back asleep without waking up again until I'm late. So I say it's a foe because it hides from me when I need to push it.

Noooooo, leave the snooze button alone,I notice you are quite articulate, if it weren't for the snooze button do you think this would be possible, I fear not my good friend, you would be like most Monday morningers, walking around in a zombie-like state with no personality at least until Tuesday. Power to the Snooze Button!

The SNOOZE button is...

FRIEND to you.. extra 10 minutes sleep - GREAT !!
FOE to your employers... not my fault, my alarm never went off, honest! ;)

Also, why does the Snooze button allow you say 5 or 10 minutes of extra sleep - when infact, the next time you DO wake up and look at your alarm clock 30 minutes or 1 hour has actually passed - and you actually MISSED the next snooze alarm ! :D

LOL one of my roommates in college peaked out at 3+ hours of snoozing the alarm. At five-minute snoozes. It's still legendary, I think. And it happened more than once.

Even in that case it did not bother _me_, as I wake up at my alarm and don't pay mind to other alarms...

Me, I don't use alarms with snooze, just get up the first time the .... thing rings. Whatever, I am not going to catch up on four missing hours of sleep in 20 minutes... bet get over the day's work in reasonable time and get to sleep on time. Tonight. :))

Definitely friend, you have to just be able to manage your friend properly, my snooze button works for 10 minutes, but no matter how tempted I am, I never press it more than once!!!!

Snooze button is a friend!! A one time alarm doesn't guarantee you to wake up, and it won't ring again if you don't manage to get up the first time....

FOE, my girlfirend sets her alarm 2 hours before she wants to get up! Sometimes she'll set 2 alarms one after the other and keep hitting the snooze button!

My tip is to set your alarm just before you want to get up, that way you get more sleep. Besides I find that if you go back to sleep after the initial alarm it makes you more tired.

I'm slowly learning to ignore the alarm all together now!
