people who act like that are not happy...mostly on a power trip because they have no control over anything else in thier life...i work with many nurses like this...do not let them break your spirit...if they know they are getting to you...they will keep on pressing. dont let thier problem become yours.
keep in mind who you work for...the patients...that makes my shift more bearable...the more i do my job, the less the other nonsense bugs me...
hang in there kiddo

As a CNA your cannon fodder (yes, I was a cna). You are the expendable part of the argument between you and a RN. Always follow the chain of command. That is the only way of protecting yourself. If you have a problem with your RN, talk to his/her immediate supervisor about it. Don't be confrontational with your RN, that's how she will win. When you argue (or sadly just disagree) with a superior you will lose. Believe me, I've pissed off my fair share of CNA's, LPN's, RN's, CRNP's, PA's, DO's,and MD's. No matter what the alpahbet brings, the CNA is always on bottom, getting the least reward for the greatest patient care. The best way to get even: work hard, go to school, get your RN, PA or whatever and DON'T become the nurse you dislike. Help your staff, remember you were once a CNA too, and provide good patient care. Good luck!

can you go to your nurse manager or supervisor? The best way to handle this is by doing that. Tell them you want a meeting with this RN and lay things out on the table. I'm sorry that an RN( who is suppose to educated) is behaving this way. I too started out as a CNA and am now an RN, BSN. I would never think of doing this to a co-worker.Good luck.

I'm with the other poster dear..

Beating the crap out of her will feel better for MAYBE 5 mins.. the rest of your life will be what hurts you. You may never be able to work in the healthcare field again, especially if she were to press charges against you, and win!

We ALL get angry and frustrated about things, and this includes the way people treat us. But the best thing you can ever learn, is that YOU have control about how YOU react to anyone who behaves like this.. including the janitor!

She dislikes you - SMILE to her.. bend over backwards to meet her demands.. she's LOOKING to pick a fight with you to get you dismissed and SHE CANNOT DO THAT if you aren't playing along right? So..... either complain to her supervisor (which I still see as giving her some of your power), or smile, tell all your co-workers what a great nurse you think SHE is and let her look like the jerk for complaining about you :) Somtimes playing things politically SMARTER than the fight picker can you win you big rewards.. SMILE and remember....... to tell her one day how pretty her hair is, or to pull her aside and in your most genuine voice, tell her how much you admire her LOL Guilt eats people and I'm prettty sure she'd been feeling like the crap on your shoe after that. DO NOT LET HER SEE YOU or HEAR YOU upset.. SHE WINS if she gets that. Good Luck!

unfortunately there are a few rns out there. they forget that they were at the same level you are. if would sugesst if you continue to have problems with her go to the charge nurse and explain the situation maybe they can pair you with someone else. nurses cna and anyone in the health profession need to remember they are there for a reason to take care of the patient. good luck!!!

The only thing beating her up or threatening her would do is make you just as bad if not worse and cost you your job and maybe your license.

You need to discuss the situation with your/her supervisor before this blows totaly out of control. Start to document instances when she is talking about you unprofessionally in public or to coworkers, and note any witnesses. DO NOT RESPOND IN KIND! Do your work and bend over backwards to make her look the fool that way. You can't necessarily change her attitude or behavior but you have a choice about yours and how you react.

And don't forget in all of this that your main responsibility is takling good care of your patients.

Follow your chain of command go to who ever is above her and voice your concerns.
Or just simply calmly confront her and tell her you are not going to tolerate that behavior.
(iknow how you feel I am a cna with an LPN that is similiar)

talk to her first if you can. If not, go above her and talk to her nurse manager or your nurse manager. Don't lose your cert. just over some bad nurse. There's alot of them out there, and alot of mean ones too.
