As a programmer, i will inform you firsthand DirectX's help is plenty kinder to the developer, yet like maximum of Microsoft's products - they have an inclination to make a lot of misjudgments and assumptions in keeping with their misperception of the desires of who they think of the shopper is - the gamer - while it rather is easily the two the developer AND the gamer who's their actual end shopper. remarkable now i'm gaining information of OpenGL and leveraging seen C++ 2005. i've got performed with the latest and fabulous SDKS - DirectX, XNA - and a few third social gathering structures which leverage that - Unreal, solidarity, CryEngine... What I even have been gaining information of is - it rather is not any longer a this vs that ingredient. maximum of those technologies are outfitted on OpenGL to start with. inclusive of DirectX. They precis the complexities of OpenGL faraway from you via growing to be their API, and then place their label on it and sell you their call - and in many circumstances - a equipment that's haphazard at terrific and slow on maximum present day structures - and unworkable on the abode windows XP equipment with 1gig of ram i'm presently coming up on that's extremely rather speedy. the actual question is: do you like Microsoft to hold your hand. Or do you chew the bullet and in basic terms bounce as we communicate into OpenGL that's the place all and sundry seems to leap into anyhow?

definetly DirectX however it really depends on your graphics card. For Nvidia you gotta use direct x as they are made for each other. If you are using other graphics card either one can work well.. but get direct x 9C thats the best one now,.
