I don't have any recipes to hand, but one thing I know from experience is to make sure you have a heavy-bottomed saucepan, otherwise it'll burn horribly and your sweets will beinedible.
I tried making toffee recently and my pan's bottom obviously wasn't thick enough, and all I got was a black sludge that smelt terrible.
