Yes. It has the power to deter certain crimes --- makes people think twice before committing certain crimes.
For example, if I know that I'd have a chance of getting the Electric Chair, I'd think twice before I murder someone.
If some wacko broke into your house, murdered all your children, raped your wife, cut off their body parts, and made you watch the entire thing --------- you don't think he should receive the death penalty?
People who don't believe in the death penalty, are typically people that have never gone through the pain of some lunatic torturing and murdering a loved one.

confident, I agree. The dying penalty violates the main remarkable to existence. this is the in basic terms top merciless, inhuman and degrading punishment. It has no place in a widespread criminal justice gadget. An execution, in basic terms like torture, includes a planned attack on a prisoner. then returned-called 'humane' approaches which contain deadly injection can entail excruciating suffering. Capital punishment is irrevocable. All judicial structures make blunders, and as long because of the fact the dying penalty persists, harmless people would be accomplished. it is likewise discriminatory and is often used disproportionately against the undesirable, the powerless and the marginalized, besides as against people whom repressive governments % to do away with. The dying penalty would not deter crime greater desirable than different punishments. In Canada the homicide fee has fallen by skill of 40 consistent with cent because of the fact 1975; the dying penalty became into abolished for homicide in 1976.

I used to... but only for the most abhorrent crimes... I always believed that if people were f*cked up enough to brutally murder others or mess with little kids, they deserved to die... and not humanely, the way it's done now... throw them to the lions I say...
But then one day someone said something to me which made heaps of sense... why kill them when instead we can lock them away and learn from them... if by keeping someone alive we can get a greater understanding of what chemicals or emotions or circumstances make someone commit certain crimes, maybe we can find a way to prevent them from happening in the future.
It made sense to me... so now I'm pretty much against capital punishment..

It is the coldest and most evil of all murders.
1. It is planned well in advance
2. The condemned is made to live in a small cell to await execution
3. It is done with a conspiracy to murder with malice and forethought
4. It is done in front of the condemned' family in cold blood
5. It is performed by people who receive payment. . . wages or out right fees
6. It is performed hidden from the public view
These things are acts that can lead one to be charged with a capital offense which can lead one to be executed. Is capital punishment wrong? One just has to open their eyes. When the coldest criminal is the State, perhaps there lies the confusion. A Rose is a Rose. . .Murder is Murder . . .
StupidKupid. . .would you like for people who are in pain, suffering from a loss, out for revenge and won't be happy until everyone connected to someone who may have done them wrong MAKING LAWS??? or someone Sane, level headed who are not carrying any emotional baggage to write your laws and govern you?

no i believe a person convicted should spend life in isolation with no outside contact what so ever. and in certain cases torture may even be a good alternative. the reason i say this is because a man in jail does nothing but lay around work out a talk with buddy's + there's more drug in jail then on the streets.
i don't believe in killing people, not because its cruel but because it puts an end to all of their problems, i don't believe in life after death and think that simply ending their life is too easy on them.
they should be wraped in moist cow hyde and hung over an open fire for 2 hours every week, physical pain is better in my opinion.

This is such a hard question for me to answer. In some ways I say YES! because there are some very fu*ked up people out there..People who do very terrible things, I think they should die...then on the other hand I say NO!..because killing is does not bring our loved ones back....that and I'm a person who holds her faith to her heart...I won't even kill bug..nor do I let anyone else in my family kill them...(although I'm sure they do, when I'm not around..brats!)...yet I can say a person should die...you see...it's to hard for me to be commited one way or the other with this question...

I believe it is wrong for many reasons...here's a few...
1.it is not a deterrent
2.too many innocents wind up on death row
3.I could never be the one to push the button, administer the shot, etc.
4.nobody KNOWS what happens after death so mybe you're doing them a favor
5.it is NOT less expensive than keeping them in jail...the appeals process is costly and necessary in order to weed out any innocents
Bottom line....it doesn't do any more 'good' then keeping 'em locked up... and if the point is not 'to do good', well then what is it?

Yes. I understand that some people who were actually innocent were executed, but innocent people die every day. I'm also pretty sure that saying that one or two may slip by the radar, but the majority probably were in fact, guilty of their crimes.
Also, no one likes to pay taxes and prisons aren't free. If people want to ***** and complain about poor people who depend on foodstamps to feed their kids, then why can't I ***** about tax money feeding criminals that would slit my throat if they were given the chance?

I believe in capitol punishment because we have capitol crimes. I serves as a deterrent for those who don't mind killing but don't want to die themselves.

I don't believe in capital punishment...to me, there is something illogical in killing someone as punishment for killing.
