No. God has a sense of humor. He created US didn't he? People who say that are so stuck in the rules that they can't see the light. They have no sense of the Holy Spirit. They've taken religion and made a golden calf of it when they should have been following the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Christ was condemned for breaking the law of the Sabbath, but He taught us that it was fine to do good on the Sabbath. It's the same kind of thing with joking... depending on what KIND of joke, of course. ;-)

Pro 26:19 So is the man that deceiveth his neighbor, and saith, Am not I in sport?
If your joke is not true, then it is a lie, and a sin
"Am not I in sport?" - I am only joking, or I am only fooling.
But the Catholic religion doesn't follow the Bible, it follows tradition. You can check this by looking at exodus 20, then looking at the 10 commandments in the catechism - Catholicism has so many other Biblical errors, i hope this example will encourage you to search for more.

It isn't so much as 'cut-and-dry' outright sin. But it's one of those things where treading lightly would be well applied.
I mean, There would be no sin, in me saying, "A horse walks into the bar. The bartender says, 'Why the long face?'". It is a joke that needlessly offends none, and could bring joy to many (well, those who haven't heard it before ^_~).
However, any joke that causes another to be offended for any reason (other than the natural offense to the cross) crosses the line, and could pass into the distinction of sin. Hair color, ethnic, profession, weight, height, intelligence, parentage (yo momma-type), adult-oriented, and religious based jokes all tend to cause offense, and would be ill advised against. Practical jokes easily cause hurt feelings, and are to be avoided.
"Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks." - Eph. 5:4
Note what else is written with jesting: filthiness and foolish talking. A good guideline would be, "if it makes fun of someone, does not speak truth, relies on swear-words, makes light of sin, and/or does not lift up our brethren, it's probably in poor taste... and those in poor taste are more likely to be sin".

I believe that Jesus was a man that had a lot of problems to deal with, and he knew that he was going to face some horrific ordeals in his life. With that in mind, don't you think that he would have tried to enjoy a laugh or two in his life. I believe that if you act like a fool, you will be perceived as one. So when you joke around you should do it with the right spirit in you. Don't joke at someone Else's expense. The Bible says you are to strive to bring out the best in every conversation. So remember that when you joke around.

Not if it's clean, but when you are joking in sexual jokes, remarks or even things that goes against what the bible says, then it is. But if you want a good joke here it is: This guy is reading the bible. He's learning about being the head of his house. So he made up his mind and went to his wife and said, "Ok, I want eggs and pancakes for break fast , after that I want you get my clothes laid out for me. I want you to draw me a bath, and while I'm in there I want you to clip my toenails. How does that sound?"
The wife responds " Ok and I'll see you six feet under!"

I don't really know, but I have heard that it is. I guess if it is a dirty joke or a joke with swearing it could be considered a sin.
But, a joke like "What did the Texan say when he dug 3 holes" would not be because the answer to that is "Well, well, well".

it truly is all as a lot as you. in case you favor to exhibit screen someone be flamed, that couldn't be an effective element. Making interesting of people with a lot less mind than you've is merciless. Are you going to make interesting of babies with Downs Syndrome? Then why might want to making interesting of each and absolutely everyone be interesting?

It is absolutely a sin. The House of the Lord is not a house of laughter or frivolity and any inclination to act accordingly must be eliminated for the sake of your everlasting soul. Please, whatever you do, do not joke around. God frowns on the smiles of others.... HAHAHAHAHHAA just joking (-:

err no it is not a sin - just part of the Catholic guilt syndrome. The same issue exists with many other religions e.g Muslim - if you insult Allah it is a death sentance! How pathetic is that!
