What do you consider a suitable punishment for pedophiles who have abused children?

Hello!! :o) I can appreciate all of the vengeful responses - but I also think it's important to keep in mind that many pedophiles were themselves victims of sexual abuse when they were kids. And because of that - I think we have to at least TRY to deal with many pedophiles with compassion. I realize that thought alone will drive some of you reading this up a wall - and that's OK. But don't confuse what I'm saying. Because the risk of a pedophile abusing another child is so great - I feel we have but no choice other than to put them in jail for life. And if a child was killed by a pedophile - then he/she should be put to death. It is possible [believe it or not] to have compassion for someone who you feel has lost their right to live among us OR has lost their right to exist. Craig!! :o)

This is a hard question because pedophiles can't really be cured of their fixation on children. "Reformed" pedophiles have admitted that their urges aren't gone, but only surpressed. So do you kill them? Put them in jail?

In a perfect world, I would create some kind of exiled city or outpost for them to live in. Something that was self contained so that they could all be "jailed" but in a way that allows them to live. And I say this because traditional jailing isn't the answer, and death doesn't seem to fit the crime either. You can always judge a society by the way they treat their dead and their criminals.

The words needed to express a fitting punishment do not yet exist. In all honesty neither are the vengeful thoughts neccesary to come up with something truly suitable. Those who use children in such a way are not human.

I suppose that some would like that the practice of being drawn and quartered would be reinstituted. I would settle for keeping the pedophile in prison. It was very difficult to get truth in sentencing law passed that required a person to complete 75% of their prison time. This was passed with sentencing guidelines that mandated minimum sentences for certain crimes. This greatly improved the situation in Michigan. I do not think very highly of such things, but still I do not want to make any Judgement since God is the Best Judge and he knows all the nitty gritty behind it all so his dealings will be the just dealings with those that do such things His is the only just Judgement no human can Judge truly justly for they do not have the insight of God nor the Wisdom that God ha sand God is incorruptible whereas humans are corruptible!

Well I would say castrate them but other then the pain and humiliation they still seem to reoffend. I would say put them in prison because they seem to get treated pretty badly there but I don't want to have to pay to feed them. So even though I am pretty left wing I still think the death penelty is more then appropriate for pediphiles. I think no risk of them reoffending should be taken.
