Hi John,
Write to the vital records and request your birth certificate. There are a bunch of sites on the internet that may help you. Simply go to Yahoo Search, type in "Salem Oregon Vital Records" (not in quotes), and SEARCH.
If you follow those leads, you will be able to order your official Birth Record, at what ever cost the agencies charge. I included two of the sites you can see from the search described above.

It might be on your birth certificate or any papers that your parents got from the hospital. You can also check with the hospital you were born at. Many will look it up for you however it can take a few days and you might have to pay for it.

get your birth certificate from the city, if you don't already have it and the birth cert. will have the time you were born.
