I plan to get a tattoo of my favourite quote, which is 'live, or die trying,' so i just want to make sure, one hundred per cent, that i have it written correctly.

Is it "Live, or die trying."?

To me it means that everything basically comes down to one of two options; live or die. I have had close calls with death in the past but have managed to keep living. I can't explain it any better than that.

It's a reminder to keep going, keep breathing. In the end, no matter what the outcome, i tried.

The comma is irrelevant, as the sentance doesn't grammatically require one. If you want the dramatic pause it entails, than that would be the correct punctuation.

I think it would be most easily understood if you put 'live' on top of 'or die trying' and choose a different font or all caps for 'live'. I don't think you'll like the comma.
LIVE
or die trying

Do the words "live, or die trying" mean anything to you? A tatoo becomes part of your living body. You don't turn your skin in to your teacher for a grade or to see if you answered the question right. If "live, or die trying" is what you want to say on your skin, that is all that is important.

I think you mean "Get rich, or die trying." Live, or die trying doesn't make sense. When you're dead, how do you try to live? You're dead!

I would say that is better than without the comma, and definitely better than with the comma after die instead, which would be idiotic. Alternatively you could just go with "Mother".
