Mayonnaise is vegetarian unless you used an animal=derived oil to make it. It does contain eggs, so if what you want is vegan "mayo" you need ingredients that eliminate the eggs.

Here's one vegan mayo-like spread to make yourself:
2 1/4 cups safflower oil (or canola or cottonseed or any light oil.
1 cup soy milk
1 tablespoon maple syrup or agave nectar or honey or corn syrup
3/4 teaspoon sea salt (start with 1/2 teas, adjust to taste)
2-2 1/2 teaspoons apple cider vinegar, raw or lemon juice, fresh squeezed
1/2 teaspoon Dijon mustard

Place all ingredients except the vinegar or lemon juice in a blender and mix until smooth. With the blender on low, add the lemon juice very slowly until the mixture thickens. Refrigerate any leftovers.

And this isn't as close to the real thing but is very low in fat compared to the others.

Tofu Mayo
2 cups lightly salted water (i/2 teas should do.
8 ounces silken soft tofu
2 tablespoons lemon juice ( or vinegar)
1/4 teaspoon salt (taste first, add to taste.)

Bring the salted water to a boil, add tofu and return to a boil.
Immediately remove from heat and let sit for 3 minutes.
Drain tofu in a strainer and then place in a food processor with remaining ingredients except salt and process until smooth. Taste and add salt as desired. Refrigerate covered. If it separates, just re-process before using. You can add a tablespoon or so of oil for a creamier product.

Tofu Mayonnaise 1

(You can experiment with using less oil, or more tofu, according to your taste. You can also add finely chopped white onion or scallion to zip it up.)

4 ounces tofu
1/3 cup olive oil
2 tablespoons lemon juice
2 teaspoons Dijon mustard
1 teaspoon grated lemon rind
salt and pepper -- to taste
Puree the tofu with 1/4 cup of water, oil, lemon juice and mustard until smooth. Add grated lemon rind and season with salt and pepper. You can add 4-6 garlic cloves, mashed with 1/2 teaspoon salt, to the mixture to make garlic mayonnaise.
NOTES : Using silken tofu will make it easier to blend. Tofu Mayonnaise 2

1 package firm tofu, preferably silken, drained and crumbled
2 Tbsp fresh lemon juice
1 Tbsp white wine vinegar
2 tsp brown rice syrup or other sweetener
1 tsp salt
1 tsp dried mustard
Process all ingredients in a blender until smooth and refrigerate.

Hope you can use one of these!! Enjoy your sandwich!
