A shaikh once told me Muslim sailors are allowed to wear gold earrings because if he dies while out at sea, the earrings are to be sold to pay for their funerals. Otherwise, earrings are forbidden for men to wear in Islam.

There is nothing in the Qur'an which would prohibit this, but it would not be considererd proper in a Muslim country like Saudi Arabia.

Of course not, in Islam it is forbidden for men to do things that look like women, like earrings, gold, having their hair long, and things like that.
