Dome of rock is a sacred place to all the GOD sent religions ,and ..like wise...it is important to Muslims...
but during the life of Prophet Mohammad pbuh.
He started praying to wards the KABA..which is the...building built by Prophet Ibrahim pbuh

and we dont sing in the MUSJID..its more like pray..and read the HOLY QURAN ..and try not to be noisy..even if you want to talk..you sort of wisper.....
the only person who does talk is the Preacher...who gives lecture....and explanation of the HOLY Quran....

btw....thank you for your remarks..
and also..we call MUSJID...our praying place....rather than mosque

The Dome of the Rock is next to Masjid Al-Aqsa... the third holiest place in Islam. The Dome of the Rock is the spot from which the Prophet Muhammad left this Earth (on the back of a flying horse from Heaven called Barak along with the Angel Gabriel) on the Night of Isra and Miraj to visit the 7 heavens and the Throne of God on the 27th night of the Islamic Month of Rajab. This was the night during which the 5 daily prayers were given to Muslims as a gift to be with their Lord 5 times a day.

Not really sacred, because for muslims, Only God is Sacred. This is a major rule with muslims, that we worship no-one and nothing but God and only God himself. We would never even think of worshipping anything else, like worshipping something out of his creation, or a man, for example (ouch!). So, we muslims are careful to not get worshipful about places or people, but we value the prophet Muhammad very highly to have been selected as worthy to receive the holy Koran and to thereby deliver warning to people then and even to this day of what can be done to get into paradise. No, at my mosque here in Hemet we don't sing, but sometimes I'm the dude who gets to call out to the neighborhood that prayer time is here! Not bad for a white boy, eh dude? Islam is for whites 2 dude.
thanks for asking about my religion!

apparently the Dome of the Rock is where the our prophet,Muhammad (peace be upon him) first prayed on the rock there on his journey to jerusalem..and then the Dome of the Rock was made as our the first direction to the prayers..like where our kiblat is supposed to be headed..kiblat means the direction of praying..but the kiblat was changed to Mecca later on.. the mosque is the third holiest after Mecca and Medina and we are given so many pahalas just by praying there..pahala is awards given by Allah..

and no we definitley do not sing int he mosque..it was just recitation of the Koran..and pray of course

Muslims have some very beautiful music, though they do not sing in the Mosque. You should listen to Nusrat Ali Kahn, or his father Ghulam Ali Kahn. The type of music they sing is called Gahzal and you can find some very inspiring Gahzal music on the web

The Dome of the Rock is not sacred to true Muslims - it is never mentioned in the Qur'an and no Qur'anic verses are inscribed upon its faces that ties it specifically to any part of the faith. This is just a bullshit argument they made to delegitimize the very real claim Judaism and Christianity have to this particular site. Kabaa in Makka and Madinah are the only true holy sites to real muslims.

Because according to our beliefs, when our prophet Muhammad rose to the sky to receive a command from Allah, the rock he stepped on wanted to follow him too. So, it was tied to the ground to prevent it from going up.

Anyway, today is our celebration for the Isra'Mikraj, which is the journey of the prophet to meet Allah.

Thanks for asking!
