well...so far it's a one sided situation isn't it? you're only doing what you think is right for the both of you, and now he is saying that your way isn't the right way to approach it? and what should he be doing? if he likes you as much as you like him, he can participate and give you some acknowledgement.
i think you both need to have a nice conversation and see if you two have a chance together....but my rule of thumb has always been "homies will forever stay as homies." that means, that i believe my friendship with my guy friends are not worth ruining sometimes.

You should keep in touch with each other - even if you just keep in touch as friends for the moment. When you're both finished with your last years, you could get together and see if the spark is still there between the two of you.
If it is, try again. And if not, just stay friends. This way you'll know if it was meant to be or not.

A very mature attitude and question.
You chose to concentrate on your schoolwork and grades/activities rather than a relationship. That is very much to be admired. So many people would have just ditched schoolwork to see him every weekend.
About your situation......
Explain to him why you stopped contact. Let him know it is nothing personal but since he doesnt feel as strongly about you, you need to move on.
It is very difficult to keep in contact with someone you care about when you know it's not going to work out. Even email can be a painful reminder.
The only thing I would have done different is to let him know right away.

School is very important you don't want too much drama in your life to do what is right for you. So you did the right thing. Keep the drama out. Get the school done. If it is meant to be it will be again

the only way you went about the situation wrong for him was that you didnt do all you could to go after him. thats all. he is slightly annoyed that you just tried to get over him by not keeping in touch with him. you said he knew you liked him? guys like knowin that theres a girl out there that has it in for them. you havent done anything wrong. he is just having a typical guy reaction.

You cant shut him out if you really like him. Maybe he does like you the same but isn't sure about the situation. Keep your guard up but be a friend to him and see where it goes.
