If you live in California you can find acupuncture personnel all over. The best thing you can do is visit your physician. Or your physician's assistant. They can refer you to a licensed practitioner of acupuncture. Generally if that is the case, your insurance will cover part of the visit.
The most popular referral is for weight loss or smoking cessation and many insurance companies will cover the therapy session or sessions because it has been proven effective.
If that is not an option, find a good referral agency and find an acupuncturist that way. The agency supposedly makes sure that the practitioner is safe and reliable. Good luck and take care.

Why do you think you need it? Must be a pain somewhere! Look it up on the web and see if you can find someone close to your area that performs acupuncture

The only place I found a good person for acupuncture was at a Chiroprator. Check with your Public Health Services who locate licensed doctors.
