i am sort of a paranoia... can websites such as yahoo actually track our IP computer address and actually see what we are surfing? everytime i surf the net, i will start thinking about this. please help me sort this out once and for all. and what are the use of IP adress anyway??

calm down. i don't know if they can, but i don't think they would, i mean, there are over 10 million users surfing the net right now, why would yaho pick you?

They can see your IP but they can't see what you're doing on the net... your ISP can do that though.

Concerning IP adresses, that's how computers connect. For example, a URL is just a "nick name" for an IP adress.

Try this as an example: Go to the start menu, open "Run". Type "ping yahoo.com". You'll see yahoo.com's IP adress.

IP address (your computers own personal address) can be tracked by any website. If you are paranoid, use a proxy.

Maybe you should consult a Psychiatrist about this matter. Get some counseling & medications also!
