Being open to new evidence. Closed minded means you've considered evidence and have drawn your conclusions and expect new information will do you no good. (why bother re-evaluating your position) Could be that new information will stand your conclusions on their head, and many fear having to change their mindset because they've invested time, reputation, or monetary decisions upon the former conclusions. Any reversing of these conclusions means lost investment so they will guard their positions rather than reconsider them.

When you come home and find that your wife is being screwd by someone, you just stand there and wonder "how come his balls are bigger than mine??" That's being broad mided.

It means that you are not instantly judgmental of others. You accept people for what they are, not what you want them to be.
