I had a lumpectomy three years ago, and as fare as a sleeping position goes, well I just found what ever was comfortable, also a small pillow was helpful.

As for the pain I thought I was the only one experiencing this, but after speaking to other breast cancer sufferers they also had this, so apparently it is not unusual, and believe me it does pass.

Hopefully this has been of some help.

I have gone through this and my doctor did not say I had to sleep in any particular position. By the way I was treated at one of the most prestigious and best breast centers in the United States. Vicoden made me sleep but did not help all that much with the soreness and pain. I slept on the opposite side of the surgery with a very tight surgical bra (sports bra works, too). I used frozen uncooked rice in a zip lock bag to ease the pain and swelling. It has been over three weeks and things are not great but starting to get a little better. Good luck!
