does anybody know this quote?

i found this quote in a book, but i would like to know its english translation too. it's something that queen isabella said to christofo columbus when he went in his journey - something like, sail straight ahead and if the land u are seeking doesn't yet exist, u can be sure god will create it just to reward ur courage. but i've translated it and it sounds stupid...does anyone know how the quote really goes?
