I multi-task and refuse to watch commercials. I will often view a show for the "bottom line" info that I am seeking.
Not just people with ADD do that - some very intelligent people do it to cover lots of material in a short time.
I find people that stare at the TV non-stop and watch every darn commercial to be boring! I am well-versed in news & current events. I also like to catch the documentaries about animals and science. Sometimes I will check out some of the decorating and home improvement channels. I rarely watch an entire show or movie unless it's really fascinating or I'm just in the mood to relax. We have two TV's in our house, so that my husband can stare at the golf channel all weekend watching the ball go into the little hole. We find that a reasonable solution to our various TV viewing quirks.

On the contrary, most of the "shows" are of such an insult to the average person's intelligence, that channel surfing has become a national past time. The TV guide channel is little help any more because 2/3rds of the screen is filled with similar dribble and so it is hard to concentrate on the channel bars at the bottom.

Commercialism got to them. All these advertisements for different show as being the best, they keep flipping because they are afraid there is something great on TV and they are going to miss it.

Sometimes its hard to find or make a decision on what you want to watch on TV. I have that problem. But once I settle on something.. I will hardly even touch the remote, not even on commercials.
