Your I Q can't be all that great iether. One does not become atheist. One is an atheist from birth, Then some morons convince them to be like they are so they won't be so alone in their ignorance and stupidity. The last part of your sophomoric question shoud be does it cost more then becoming a no brain born again empty headed follower of a moron called jesus the son of god that he killed for your sin. How rich are your churches
when was the last time you witnessed an atheist mas murderer, or a child molester, or a rapest . Most start out as godd god fearing xristians. I was born a atheist and shall rotate as one. Thank you very little

You cannot become an atheist because there is no such thing as an atheist.... an atheist by definition is one who denies the existence of GOD. In order to make that declaration, one would have to possess all knowledge in the universe.... one would have to know absolutely everything there is to know about everything...
Thomas Edison who was a genius inventor once said that man does not know 1 millionth of 1 percent about anything. Lets say that someone knows an incredible 1 whole percent of all the knowledge in the universe, don't you think that somewhere within the other 99 percent that there could be ample evidence for the existence of GOD? If a person is reasonable and has a brain that works he or she would have to agree that it is possible. So with that said the correct title for someone who rejects GOD would be an agnostic, which is some one who claims that we cannot know if there is a GOD or not.... I of course do believe in GOD so,
~GOD BLESS YOU AND LEAD YOU INTO ALL TRUTH~

'Critical thinking skills' seem to seriously start to kick in at an IQ of around 125... about the 95th percentile. There and above is where you'll find most atheists and agnostics.

I'm an atheist and my IQ has been measured between 50 & 75, depending on the weather.

There is hope for you, but you will have to really concentrate while taking the tests. They are really hard.

And, I have a 3rd grade education.

You have to be really intelligent & educated to be an atheist.

It's one point higher than the maximum IQ allowed for someone to be Christian.

I am glad for the fact that you realise, that a minimum is required in order someone to become Atheist.
In order to become someone Christian NO IQ is required at all. That's why they baptised while they are still babies. There is the fear that if they grow...they'll refuse to become Christians.

personaly I think that the higher your IQ the more likely you are to believe in some sort of Higher Power. Whether that be A God or otherwise. The Arguement for a lack of God tends to fall apart when you begin to see things that can not be explained by the limits of science. Granted science does tend to prove many things once regarded supernatural to be merely natural but at the same time science has supported many things as unexplainable outside the belief of the supernatural. As an atheist you would have to deny science and therefor you would have to deny everything that your arguement against a God is based on. Atheists say that they are free thinkers(I agree) They are definitly that but freedom has its cost. In this case I believe that the cost is not having anything to believe in. Min IQ-10 Max-12

Acceptance or denial of reality is unrelated to IQ scores.
