With all of the turmoil today, do you feel that since most of it is caused by mostly religious people, should they start paying taxes on their assets like everyonr else?

Religious people do pay taxes on their assets, but yes, the tax exemption for many churches should be revoked.

I've often wondered about the exclusion of religions from the tax base. Personally I'd like to see a flat rate that applies to everyone (and thing) with no exemptions, deductions, credits. The 2-line tax return, gross income and that number multipied by the fixed tax rate.

Sorry I disagree with you. It is the rich that need to start paying their fair share of the tax burden . Instead of hiding it in offshore accounts and other dodges. They are more the ones that start the wars to make more money for themselves . Wither or not they are (cough,cough) religious.

yes, why should some pentecostal preacher with absolutely no training other than a BA in Comparative religions , not have to pay taxes on the millions he bilks from all those poor little old widows?

Hell yeah man. Just because they are a religious institution they should still have to pay. They make money, they should pay taxes. I don't think anybody should be exempt from it, not matter what.

Yes they should. The law is outdated, the future is not going to have religion.
