All 4 of my wisdom teeth were impacted (growing in sideways under the bone). They have to be removed or else you'll have big problems down the road; they can become infected and they push all your other teeth out of alignment so then you'll have a mouth full of crooked, painful teeth. I went to a specialist dentist, had anesthesia, kinda groggy/swollen for 2 days, not horribly painful, all better now. You'll be ok.

The dentist will administer a local anesthetic to your gums before they extract them. Most use cotton swabs instead of needles. So you shouldn't feel anything unless the anesthetic wears off too quickly.

You go home the same day and you can even drive yourself but you may want to have someone along with you just in case you're not up to it.

The dentist will give you a prescription for pain medicine that will probably knock you out over the course of a few days. If possible, try to get liquid form since you won't be able to swallow anything for awhile and you won't be able to eat anything other than soft foods (liquids, applesauce, jello, etc) for a few days.

I just had this done last week and I am fine. I had mine done in an oral surgeon's office and was put to sleep with IV sedation. I didn't know a thing. They just woke me up when it was done. So make sure you get the IV sedation and have an oral surgeon do it! I had NO problems at all. I laid on the couch for two days afterwards, took the Vicodin the dr. gave me and ate soft foods. The pain was minimal. Just make sure to take your meds afterwards and use ice. On your jaw for 20, then off for 20 minutes. By day 3 I was good as new.

yes most ppl have to have it done in the hospital then they go home the next day if this is for you and once you are home put ice on your cheeks to keep the gums from swelling up. for the pain you can ask the dr for a perscription because in this case tylenol is not going to be strong enough

GET PUT TO SLEEP!!!!!!!!!!!!! it may cost an extra hundred dollars but you do not want to be a wake for that crap. It hurts like hell. and if you smoke....quit. Dry socket makes you want to kill yourself.
mine grew straight in but the roots where crossed...it was the worst thing to happen to me. and i'm cheap so i didn't want to pay for the sleep gas. get it done though. like i said, it helps.

most likely its going to hurt ALOT sometimes they even put you to sleep because they actually have to dig down into your gums to get them out. OUCH.
