Really, come on, u noe there are people out there whose religion is the only source of their morality. And without it would turn to survival of the fittest.

As for what my religion is, it is censored for now because it is irrelevant to the question.

I think the world would be a better place without religion. Not necessarily without beliefs, but without religion. I don't see anything bad about people believing in a god/gods, but organized religion is the source of a lot of bad things and the main problem is that everyone thinks that their religion is the only right one and it causes problems because people don't respect each other's beliefs and keep trying to get others to follow "the true religion". That's how wars get started, not to mention the smaller problems. Religion has been used as a power tool for a long time and I think that's a bad thing.
I think it would be good if faith was something individual. That everyone got to use their own judgement and be free to believe in what seems logical to them and do what they think is right rather than be brainwashed right from birth into following some stuff written in some book presented as the truth (whether it be the Bible, the Qu'ran, a science book or whatever) and belonging to an arrogant group of believers/disbelievers who insist they know better than everyone else and don't respect those who don't share the same beliefs.

I believe that people who need emotional or moral support should not make up an imaginary solution. The problem with religion is that, it was created a very, very long time ago, before they had explanations for things. The church constantly changed it's beliefs when people discovered things like the earth was round, the sun did not revolve around the earth, etc.
However, now that science has become more advanced, there are sciences that would completely disprove all religion, and now they oppose people advancing in those sciences. Things like evolution, stem cell research, or anything religious people will deem to "make humans not sacred" are attacked by the fanatics. Religion is thwarting the very growth of humanity because they want to keep living under a rock, and want to keep everyone else under that rock with them. The world would be an infinitely better place without religion.

Just because someone follows no religion doesn't mean they aren't a moral person. Survival of the fittest appears in religion too - except that it's survival of the most faithful. The Bible and other "Holy books" have tons of stories of people getting killed because they didn't have enough faith in the 'true god.'
Like others have said, there certainly are quite a few people who abuse religion and use it to justify evil. But religion has a lot of good points too. It depends on the message, and how that message is received and practiced.

I think that many horrible things were made in the name of religion all through history.
I think religion is opium to the masses. But I don't think the world would have been a better place without religion.
Religion was made by people to control other people. And if it wasn't religion it would have been something else. The world would have been the same because humans are like that.
What should change is this specific gene in humans that wants to control others. That's what scientist should focus on!!!

IF there are people whose religion is the only source of their morality (statement which I seriously doubt) then getting rid of religion would give them a stronger source of morality. Besides, there always is the legal system. If a person doesn't kill just because there's a religion to stop him, then this person is going to learn that he cannot kill anyway, with or without a religion, because it's forbidden by the law.

Nope....religion brings moral and sanity to human beings.
The world would be a better place if human stop misusing religion to justify their own selfish cravings.
I believe the world would be a better place without "POWER".

no. not better just different. we are all human. we make mistakes, and violence is a part of that. there is no real way of knowing what the world would be like without religion, but i believe that everyone needs to believe in something, whether its god or oblivion, people need to think about what is next, it's part of being curious and inspires everyone to create and expand themselves. invention is a byproduct of this process, without it we would still all be living in caves. imagination is really important.

oh religion is needed. yes, it does cause many problems, but without it, simple morals cannot be taught, and makes people worry about things like death.
however, i am against using religion as an excuse to justify wrong deeds. I am also against strict interpretations and literal translations of religious tetxs becasue they interfere with intellect.
