That's a nice thing. You can always do that. Alll of those people are doing a very tough job, and the function they perform is vital. Regardless of how we feel about the policy makers and the policy that put them where they are, whether we agree with it or not, these people deserve our respect and gratitude.

Think you might be in jest but I remember a few guys who wouldn't mind just as long as they saw your icon...
Did six years and sixteen years later someone thanked me AND it still gives me warm fuzzies to think of...
Dear Abby ran op which encouraged people/kids to write and if theres no mail at mail call that can be a life saver(literally) around the holidays...
Just to leave for bootcamp can be the bravest thing a person ever does...
Know anyone in anywhere drop 'em a line as it's a good reminder of 'the world' when you may feel forgotten.

I think that is great it really helps to hear someone finally say something positive. The servicemen and women dont get the respect they deserve! I know I was one!
