I know all babies are differant so this is probably a stupid question, but i'd like to hear that this is normal. She was a late crawler, now she gets away faster than lightening. She pulls herself up,walks around furniture, and occationally lets go and stands alone, even looks around to see if we notice. Please tell me there's no reason to worry:)

Wow. Again I have experience in this one! My oldest daughter who is now 13, was the same way. She started holding onto things and walking tentatively around them at around 8 months then just regressed. She went back to crawling everywhere and was quite efficient at it. She also did not get her first tooth until almost 16 months of age. I took her to a pediatrician that wasn't overly concerned because all of her other gross motor skills were just fine as well as her fine motor skills. He said she just may not have the patience to walk where she wanted to get because crawling was quicker for her.I did see her walk ocassionally to get things she couldn't reach by crawling so I knew she could do it; just wouldn't. She did eventually start walking however at around 15-16 months; right after I took her to the pediatrician ...just like a child; make mom out to look silly :P She did however walk on her tip toes alot in the beginning but grew out of that as well so nothing was really done for it and no concern generated for it. SHe is now on the accelerated course list at school and doing wonderfully! Of course if you notice other signs or your concern grows, a pediatrician visit would be in order VS your General Practioner as they are more experienced in childhood issues. Good luck and keep us posted!

There's no reason to worry.

There have been studies that showed the longer a baby crawls, the better readers they are.

Why be in a hurry to get her to walk, as soon as she learns to walk, she's going to run AWAY from you. Do you have the energy for that?

I did not encourage, nor prevent, either of my children from walking when they were ready.

Gosh, some babies don't walk til they're over 2 years old. If the pediatrician has no worries, then you shouldn't. There's nothing physically wrong with the baby...she's just not ready.

SHe is fine, she will walk when she is ready...as long as she shows interest in pulling up and walking holding on to things she is developing ok
