If religion should be kept out of schools to such extremes as changing the Pledge of Allegience something started by our Forefounders than why not go to the extreme and get rid of the teaching of Evolution or teach both Evolution and Creation?
Maybe the Christians should start taking schools to court just like the
Athiests! Don't you have anything better to do? Why can't people just get over it?

My tax dollars go to public schools. Private religous schools cost too much

Creation has alot of archeoligical evidence proving it. In fact more so than evolution.

I'm an atheist and I think that both the evolution and the creation should be taught in schools. That's how it was in my school and I think it was good that they told us about both and didn't present either one of them as the truth but rather let us choose which one we believed in.

People can't easily get over such things because they feel like they're being discriminated because of their religion and that something irrelevant is being forced upon them. I think it's ok to feel like that and that people should work together on solving such disagreements.

Maybe both sides need to learn roll with the punches a little more? Athiest's children shouldn't be forced to say the pledge, or at least the "under God" part, and the children of Christians against Evolution should be allowed to do something other in class or even go somewhere, like the library with other work, while it is being taught.

Stop wasting time going to court.

There is this crazy new fangled thing called 'Home Schooling'. You want your child to be ignorant and know less than the average public school kid then you can teach them yourself and never mention evolution to them. You can even teach them that 3x7=21 because God wanted it that way. Who cares if they are light years behind most of the free world academically as long as their belief system is never questioned?

Religion has no place in schools. Not in the pledge and certainly not in science class. Cough up some of that scientific evidence and maybe people will start seeing your side of things.

P.S I am not an atheist and I don't care for the 'Under God' part of the pledge. It was inserted into the plede during the communism scare of the 50's and really has no place or usefulness in there. It was NOT started by our forefathers at all unless they did it from the grave in 1954.
You wouldn't want your kids pledging to Buddha or Allah, I don't think others should be forced to pledge to your God.

Because Evolution is science! Creation is just a belief, while Evolution is a scientifically proven fact! What's next? Getting rid of Mathematics? Really, it shocks me to see how messed up things are for some people!

I think that it's silly for either to take anyone to court for something so stupid. Honestly, there's not enough learning going on in schools to cause any more distractions. I don't believe that there's any reason why Christians should be upset about evolution, it's taught as a scientific THEORY, I also don't see why atheists should be upset about the whole "under god" thing. It's not like it's a prayer or any actual religion. Sheesh, what's next, bellyaching about the "under god" on money? Should we recall all money ever printed in the United States? We as a country are too leinent on people who take our system and mess it all up on a matter of trivial principal. I think we should sue them and use the money for more school supplies.

The thing about taking evolution out of schools is that it is a fundamental part of science, which is a non-religious strand of study. If we are going to get rid of evolution, why not get rid of science all together? I mean seriously, get with the times. As for getting rid of the Pledge of Allegience, I support it, if only for the fact that it makes you Americans too patriotic. You are just like the "terrorists" who will do anything for their country, even it means fighting a war and killing innocent people for oil.

TRUE Christians are upset with the Pledge of Allegiance in schools because they do not give their allegiance to a piece of cloth or any other thing or idea. They ONLY give allegiance to God through his son, Jesus Christ.

Not just atheists are upset about "under god" (words added in 1954) in the pledge. Polytheists too. How would you like kids to say "under no god" or "under hundreds of gods"...wouldn't like that would yah?

You make the mistake of seeing creationism and evolution as equal. Creationism is a joke.. Man co-habitated the planet with T-Rexs? Give me a break.. anyone who thinks this is insane.

The Pledge was changed in the 50s to include God. It was a bad move.

Evolution is science. Evolution is taught in science class. Evolution matches with the available evidence.

Creationism is religion. Not science. It doesn't belong in science class. That's like wanting to teach Harry Potter in science class.

But maybe we can teach it in history class one day? :)

Maybe because an undersanding of evolution is an important part of science? Maybe because understanding evolution will provide a better understanding of biology? Maybe because science is responsible for all of the modern medical and technological advances we now enjoy, while religion has produced nothing tangible, and teaching creationism would be detrimental to education?
